Today's Press Conference

Yesterday we put up a Post about Mr. Wells destroying items left on the edge of his property in memory of Sarah Foxwell. One of these items was even from the Sheriff and his Family.

Today a Press Conference was held, yes, you can believe it when I tell you that the Sheriff, the States Attorney's Office and WBI, (all present) are requesting that everyone stop traveling down Melson Road and or to stop dropping off items on the edge of their property.

Now, that being said, I'm cool with this, (as I stated yesterday) I believe the items should be left at the Shorebirds Stadium and that is exactly where they are requesting people leave such said items.

Again, I will personally stand firm in my statement that I felt it was completely out of line for Mr. Wells to destroy such items and he could have called the Sheriff's Office, Firefighters, ANYONE to come collect these items and relocate them.

I will firmly respect their request and repeat, I suggested this yesterday and I'm glad they have chose a new location in front of the Shorebirds Stadium. For those of you upset with me because I feel the way I do, too bad, that's how I feel about this matter.

Sheriff Lewis went on to say that the Well's Family is clearly upset about Sarah's death/murder and I want to make something VERY CLEAR. Who in their right mind wouldn't believe that to be true. Yes, I am curious as to why they didn't check their own property, especially when Sheriff Lewis went LIVE several times stating they were concentrating in that exact area for two or three days straight.

Mind you, there could be a hundred reasons why they did not, they'll have to deal with that. All that being said, the point of this matter is for ALL to please respect their wishes along with everyone from Wicomico County and please go to the Shorebirds Stadium instead. I'll repeat, the Sheriff's Office does NOT want anyone traveling down Melson Road. Come on Folks, what the heck are you going to see there, NOTHING!

I'll post more information about the Press Conference in another post tonight.

  1. HE HAS A RIGHT TO BE UPSET AND FOR PEOPLE TO JUST PUT STUFF ON PROPERTY WITHOUT ASKING IS UNCALLED FOR. IF THAT WHERE MY HOUSE I WOULD BE DOING THE SAME THING. RESPECT EPOPLES PROPERTY AS YOU WOULD WANT THEM TO RESPECT YOURS. TO ME YOU WHERE TRESPASSING ON HIS PROPERTY TO PUT STUFF ON HIS PROPERTY.

  2. Wells thing is now over, Can we move on with all you people out there committed to exposing these animals??? What can we do? Another Sarah is out there! Its going to happen. The sexual offenders have to be exposed somehow. So, what do we do??

  3. anonymous 7:36, I disagree. The first 12 feet of that property is owned by the County.

That being said, do not ever write in capital letters again on here or it will be rejected, that is our rule.

Now I may not want to see a thousand items in front of my property either but as a mature adult I think I'd learn to deal with it for a few days. Especially under these circumstances.

Again, who was one of the very first people to put something there. NO ONE thought they were being disrespectful.

  4. I don't think he should have destroyed the items, but fully understand Why he does not want them there.
People enjoy their privacy, its not the things, its the people coming to his home and dropping them there, I'd be kind of disturbed too. Like i said though he shouldn't of destroyed them (if he really did). Let's not go bashing this man, he's not the one who murdered her, everyone has their own way with dealing with things and everyone is totally entitled to their own opinion's.

  5. Ok strike that reverse it let me rephrase what i said. From the 12 feet back it is his property and if i saw someone putting somthing on my property and did not know who it was the cops would be called and i would of put no tresspassing signs up and i never said it was not disrepectful of what was there first but i did not want to bring that up so i guess you did Joe. i was being respectful not bringing it up. But you brought it up

    ReplyDelete
  6. Might I offer a suggestion?

Look up the location on Google map and you get to see the entire area. No travel needed.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I certainly didnt feel like i was being disrespectful when i left items at the murder site... if anything i felt i was paying respect to sarah. and i was not looking for "15 min" of fame as some people have put on here, i was simply grieving in my own way... people can be so narrow minded and that includes the people who agree with the wells...

  8. You are absolutely right Joe!

And for all of you that agree with Ron Wells and what he did:
God forbid if it was your child! Would you still agree then to someone throwing away mementos left in your deceased child's memory?? Say what you want, but I highly doubt it. He may not have liked it, but again like others have said, he could have waited until Saturday and then mourners could have placed items at her grave. Not immediately started cutting balloon strings and throwing it all away. And Mr. Wells you stated in a post that people leaving things was littering on your property. Do you intend to take up this argument with Thomas Leggs as well? As he left a poor innocent little girl on your property. You heartless Bastard!

  9. I can't believe that someone would be upset about people trying to come to terms with the loss of this little angel. I'm sorry if this causes the propety owners any inconvenience. Get over it. What would they do if it was their little girl?

  12. is the first 12 feet of all property owned by the city/county? Would be interesting to put a few signs and other items in front of TJ's house

  13. I'd be devastated if a body were found on my property. To further see a massive reminder is understandably upsetting.

    Just a thought.

  14. The last I knew this is a free country we can travel roads that we pay for with our taxes, also if I gave somebody the right to hunt my land & knew they were arrested for a crime like this I sure would call & let the police know about it, sounds a little wierd to me..

  15. folks, i think we are loosing sight of the issue here, we need to stop these petty he said/she said discussions about where flower are placed and remember the little angel who lost her life to a monster...we must remain united to fight this battle against sex offenders on the eastern shore...direct your anger towards the scum bucket in jail

  16. Joe, It is always disrespectful to enter a person's property with out there permission. Placing a memorial item, walking just to look around, looking at an old house. If you don't own it you do not belong on the property. The Wells family are good people. Have always done there part in the community. I am sure they are very sensitive to what has happened and feel very badly about the death of this poor child. Especially since the body was found on there land But they should not have to put up with a lot of people placing things on there property and the Wells family having to clean it up and pay to get rid of it at the landfill. I can assure you from past experinece, weather the County owns the first 12' or not. The county will not clean up something left on there right of way for at least 2 and maybe 3 weeks. Unless maybe it is a dead deer and the buzzards are in front of the school bus.

As far as the Wells checking there property. They are like a lot of rural landowners. They and their family own seveal pieces of property. Many of us Rural landowners drove past every piece of property we could on December 24, as soon as we were asked. On Christmas day some of us realized that we maybe could look a little better and we did the ride around again. After I had done this for a second, I got home and realized that there were two parcels that I had only checked on one side, and I should of checked from another road. As my wife and I left the house to go check this property we got a call that someone had read your web site and everything was moving to Melson's road area. We went and checked the final parcel of property. I think the same thing happened to the Wells Family,
I am not friends of these people I just know them, have known them for 30 years. They are good hard working people. Lighten Up.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I agree Joe. But why are we focusing on who puts what where. Are we forgetting about the actual situation? The relocation is set. At least we have a place to have a memorial for her. Would you all rather not have a place? Exactly. So Its over with. Shorebirds is a good of place as any b/c that's where this whole community came together to help find baby girl Sarah. I do also have a very strong opinion and disagree with what Wells have done, But what can we do? Nothing! So this poor baby girl hasn't been laid to rest yet, Can we all please get through that before we start lashing others? This situation isn't about you, me or anyone else right now BUT Sarah and making sure that TJ gets the worst sentence possible.. Then after that lets focus as a community on making sure these horrible monsters never see the day of light!

  18. If you ask me i will tell you i think it was no surprise to wells i think he knows a whole lot more then he making everybody think. Momma didn't raise no fool but at the end the fools will stand alone

    ReplyDelete
  19. It's not like ballons and stuffed animals were left on their doorstep... actually the house can't be seen from where these things were placed. Mr. Wells was in the wrong to destroy things that people placed in memory of a 11 year old little girl. Thankfully the shorebird stadium isn't opposed to people leaving flowers and such there in her memory. Mr. Wells made this a bigger deal then it actually was.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It would be nice if people didn't waste their money on trinkets that will turn to trash in the weather. If people put that money together they could create a lasting tribute at a place where she was happy, loved and safe--maybe her school. Please don't let this child be forgotten.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Joe, this Wells guy is a cold hearted person. Yes he had the right to take it off his property but you know what, the way he did it was COMPLETELY wrong. AND from his post earlier, it isn't littering, it is illegal dumping. Wells your just a dip S*&^.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Mr. Wells, have you dropped off your items at the stadium yet?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Does anyone have any idea what charges are being pressed against Leggs in addition to the kidnapping and burglary?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think there are a lot of details that will come out in the future about what people did or should have done or should have known that may have prevented this or at least aided in finding Sarah earlier. There are many things that don't add up about the night she was taken and the time line as to when someone knew she was missing and when the police were called. I'm sure the police are pursuing all the angles and they can't tell the public everything because they don't want to compromise the investigation and do anything that might let this monster get less then he deserves like so many times before. Its hard to be patient waiting for details but we at least have a good source here unlike the incomptetent local news. They didn't even show any of the press conference on the 7pm news.
As far as Wells; he's an ass and he handled it all wrong but just bc he let Leggs hunt on his land it doesn't make him guilty of anything. Yea maybe he should have searched his property but anyone could put a red ribbon out and claim they searched their property. At least he didn't do that. Did anyone ever say why they targeted the search to that place? If Leggs wasn't cooperating then I guess it wasn't him.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Who cares whose property it was. really he should have left them there for a time, then asked the Sherrif what to do with it. You ride around and see this kind of stuff all around Salisbury everywhere. There should have been a time where we can act like loving human beings (I Guess Not!!!) and just left the rememberances for this poor angel and let them stay a week or so. Who did it hurt?? Answer that who did that hurt! The land owner was wrong... Did that stuff hurt his precious land? He is an A hole for sure!

  26. Everyone has brought up some good points. I think I might contact the people living in my grandmother's old house and see if they would mind if I started a shrine on their front lawn. She died in that house - it only seems right. Seems stupid - so does all of this harping on the memorial spot. Joe has arranged it to be at the stadium - get over it and go to the stadium.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Mr wells doesnt let anyone hunt that land not even his own family! I know the family personally.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I don't think TJ did any hunting anywhere. He is a convicted felon. Convicted felons are not supposed to have firearms of any kind. He was also never a hunter of animals. He was a barroom athlete, he played pool and video games, he also bowled.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah 9:56 he really cared about the law!!!!!! I doubt that because he wasnt supposed to have a fire arm kept him away from them. Get real!!

  31. Give it a rest folks. What does it matter if he doesn't waqnt that crap there? What is it for anyway? The same as all the crap that sits in the medium of the roadway after someone was killed in an auto accident. Put it in the graveyard where it belongs. I don't need to see it unless I want to go and see it!

    ReplyDelete
  32. He was quite the rule follower. I guess next your going to say he was wrongly accused

    ReplyDelete
  33. I would hope that everyone NOW knows how to look up sex offenders on the official sites. Take the time to read and protect your loved ones. It's amazing to me that there are soooo many repeat offenders.

    ReplyDelete
  34. There is a link on the right hand side of this Blog for sex offenders in Wicomico County. USE IT!

    ReplyDelete
  35. That's not correct about the first 12 feet. That distance is called an easement. The county reserves the right to access it and use it as a right of way - but the owner pays taxes on it and maintains it. Also - have a protective order against you forbidding you from entering upon the land of a person and then walk on that 12 feet along the road edge of the protected persons property and see what happens. The fact is it is their property. Respect their wishes for privacy and let them grieve the way they see fit.

    ReplyDelete
  36. 10:01, this is not about the things left on his property any longer, this is about Leggs and Wells and why Mr. Wells did not give his info to the police right away. I am sorry, hunter or no hunter, this creep had access to the property, who in their right mind would not have told this to the police immediately!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Bob, while you may be technically correct, are you telling us that if this happened on your property in the middle of nowhere, you'd personally have a problem with it?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thanks Joe for helping us be more aware. Parents need to be using these links and re-checking the sites often for new ones. Remember, the only molesters and rapists on these sites are the ones who have been convicted. Imagine all the ones who have not been convicted or even charged because the victim is too scared or too young to come forward. There are many of these people walking amongst us. And as parents, we need to make sure we know who is around our children at all times. Get to know your kids friends, their parents, and who they have frequent their homes.

  39. Let us not forget about the way that bas&%$d handled himself regarding the momentos in the first place. He put himself out there, I had never heard of Ron Wells until all of this. He deserves all that is written. You give it then you must be prepared to take it. This is a public blog where we are free to speak our minds, if you dont like it, go read a book.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ok Joe, you said you would be making another post tonight about the press conference. I hope it will be soon, before I head to bed. If not, I will check it in the morning.

    ReplyDelete
  41. And may I add, that sometimes those small memorials set up do some good. My 12 year old son has asked on several occasions what they represent and I find that time a good time to express what happens if someone drinks and drives or texts while driving, etc. They should not be looked at in a morbid way but find a way to say a prayer for the family whether you know them or not or find a way to maybe talk to your child about speeding, drugs, alcohol while driving!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I certainly wouldn't have any problem with people leaving memorials in my yard under the circumstances. But, then again, I've never had something this awful happen on my property. I doubt any of us have. I would think the Wellses are more horrified by this than any of us can imagine, and how they react to such a thing isn't up to anyone but them.

What really prompted me to write is that commenters on this blog have built up such gross anomosity toward the Wells family. Each of us in this community feels angry and helpless right now, but I doubt berating this family is going to solve much of anything for anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  43. anonymous 10:34, don't let the nay sayers bother you. In fact, JT, JR, TM, BB, SB and a couple of others have been sending in nasty comments literally by the hundreds for the past few days. Of course none of them are big enough to use their names and they're so ticked off , even attempting to use other people's names, they can't handle it.

We have published more than 1,700 comments alone in the past 3 days and my guess would be that we rejected at least 500 from these Idiots. You'd truly be amazed at some of the nasty comments they've tried to get through here but we're on top of it as best as we can.

These little mental giants actually sit around day and night hoping just one opr two of them will get through and then react like they're in Viagra. Pretty sick minds, if you ask me.

I loved hearing the other day JT claimed he turned off comment moderation, yet my sources tell me they could still comment on any article. Then they told me a day or two later when he was supposedly back to normal he still only had up 11 comments and most of them were from himself anyway.

By the way Folks, NOT ONE of them was anywhere to be found when it came to searching for Sarah. They provide nothing for their community and without my name they would have absolutely nothing. Funny how some choose to live their lives.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Sorry, I feel for Mr Wells, as we all feel, but, IF, that where my property, NOT lived on, I would absolutley let people show there respect to that little girl. GOD only knows what she went thru, and ,all these citizens wanted to do was show respect for this child. He did not reside there. It was no disrespect to the Wells family. I have no respect for the way they handled this situation. Joe, you do not not have to print this, I understand, but, they have asked for this. There is no dought in my mind this has affected there lives, and, I am sorry for that. It would have affected mine also

    ReplyDelete
  45. I hope this community will pull together and fight for all of our children to change the law that will protect them against these monsters. I feel they should have an S tatooed on their heads...so that all children will know if they have a monster in front of them.

No child should have to endure the actions from these sickos.

    ReplyDelete
  46. SOmeone was asking about Jennifer (Sarahs moms) facebook, look up Jennifer Wechsler, she has lots of pics of Sarah there, Funny thing is they were all added 2 days ago. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. 10:53, good idea about the tattoo, except it should be "666".

    ReplyDelete
  48. People, people, people...listen to yourselves please!!! I completely agree with Mr. Wells point of view, as well as everyone else. If I was Mr. Wells, REGARDLESS, if I searched my property like I was told or not, having a reminder of something that maybe I could have prevented would leave me heartbroken and having it come to light would leave me embarrassed. Yes, maybe then I would get what I deserved, but considering the circumstances, no one need point fingers except to the excuse for a human being sitting in jail. I agree he could have done with the memorial site a WHOLE hell of a lot better then what he did. My Grandmother was killed at the blinking lights at Line Rd 10+ years ago and eventually someone or something took down the memorial we left there. But every time I ride by the intersection, I never forget that that's where she last took her breath. We as a community have surrounded this family with so much love and support and its such an amazing thing to see. I wish it happened more often and that instead of bickering over what this politician is doing right and wrong that we'd actually do more about it. I was lucky enough to spend my Christmas morning out searching for Sarah with my brother and boyfriend. We all have made sacrifices to help her and, I personally feel like she was my family and the idea that what we did just wasn't enough, it hurts. I can't imagine how her family feels. Even her Aunt, regardless if she knew of his past or not...she has to feel awful now. I don't think if precious Sarah was still with us, she'd want us acting this way. What if her family reads these blogs, yes we are all entitled to speak our minds...regardless of how it affects others. But just for a moment lets stop having so much anger towards the wrong thing. Years from now, maybe not a lot of people will remember that Mr. Wells threw away the memorial site we started for Sarah. But we will remember she died there, and we will remember when she was found, and the bastard that did it to her. And of course we will remember what we were doing at the very moment we received word that God had taken home his precious angel to be with him and be free of pain. Many of you may not agree with what I'm saying, some of you might. But please can we just simmer down with the arguing over Mr. Wells choices?? It doesn't really make any of this better.

  50. People are hurt and angry and sad and confused, and many of them have expressed their grief by attacking someone else (just look at some of these comments).

Perhaps Ron Wells is reacting the same way; he does not know how to cope with the poor girl being found on his property (maybe even by him), and is so hurt and angry that he, unfortunately, took it out on the tributes being left behind that remind him daily of what happened on his own land.

Walk a few miles in someone else's shoes before you judge. Especially when you don't have all the facts.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Well said Joe! I was thinking either the stadium or even at Wi Middle...These kids are having a hard enough time. We had a long night here in this house!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Well, you can bet with all the publicity this murder has received, Public Defender Arch McFadde will demand any trial be relocated off the Maryland eastern shore.

    ReplyDelete
  53. To my mind there is no information or visuals to which anyone is privy.
There is an ongoing investigation and people just need to stay away. There is NO RIGHT TO INFORMATION regarding the case & the Sheriff is containing info quite properly.
If it were me, anyone leaking any information would be fired ASAP. People don't realize the investigation could be in jeopardy thru their interference & curiosity. Don't we all wish this case to be closed, tight?
The Sheriff gets an A+ for comportment in handling this case. Lets not do anything that would lower his marks.

    ReplyDelete
  54. 10:45 Joe You are right, The nasty people left comments while you were out searching, I guess they didn't have any compassion or understanding for Sarah and all the others spending Christmas in the cold.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Dwelling on this is diverting your attention, and there are some important aspects that should be discussed, such as this in the Daily Times:

"In 1997, the parents of a 12-year-old girl contacted police alleging Leggs, who was 18 at the time, molested their daughter. He was convicted of third-degree sex offense and sentenced to five years in prison. A Wicomico County judge suspended all but six months of the sentence and ordered Leggs to serve 36 months of supervised probation and receive sex offender counseling, according to court records."

Who was that lenient judge and why did he/she cut him so much slack in the sentence? If he had gotten the full preiod of time, his "career" might have ended in prison and this episode would not have occurred.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Just a FYI that the public needs to be clear on, registered sex offenders are not supposed to live with in 2000 feet of a school. I live right by bennett and prince street and there are 3 registered sex offenders living my my neighborhood.INTERESTING!!!!!!!!!!The kids in that neighborhood have to walk to school from first grade to fifth, WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Oh no...Joe I would have welcomed any efforts of people to do what they needed to do for themselves. They need to heal as well. We've all lost someone here. This is no longer a child we didn't know. This child is like a member of all of our families - even if we've never met her. I still can't think about this without the lump in the throat going on.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I am sure the wells family did check their property. you all need to put yourself in their shoes!!! If a little girl was found on your property I am very sure you would all be in shock! Grow up and realize Sarah wouldn't want all of us fighting over something of this nature. I am sure the Wells family did not ruin her gifts that people left for her. I am sure they will bring it all to stadium!

I see zia's has a horrible monster working there..Is there a legel way for the employers to fire them?? Antone out there that can give me some insight on this?

  60. There is a sex offender living on Fairground Drive, as well. That borders the property of Pemberton ELEMENTARY School. Not just near it, not just in the neighborhood, it actually borders it. When these deviants send in their addresses, doesn't someone check to see how close they are to a school? There is an offender on Adams Avenue, directly in front of both Bennett schools. It's not like the schools just sprang up, they've been in those locations for decades.

    ReplyDelete
  61. AMEN 9:48 Anonymous. I left the comment earlier about the schools and you are the only responder. I thought that there would be a slue of responders on this subject, WAKE UP PEOPLE! KIDS ARE WALKING TO SCHOOL BY THEMSELVES, FIRST GRADERS, SECOND GRADERS AND THE PARENT'S HAVE TO SEND THEM. I can't tell you how many times I was late because my daughter had no one to walk with and I took her to be safe. HERE"S the kicker, there have been volunteers who work at the school that have offered to come in early for FREE so the kids could get dropped off by the parents on their way to work, due to the fact that kids are not allowed to show up at the school until 7:45am, NOPE THE RESPONSE WAS "WE ARE NOT BABYSITTERS". My daughters don't attend Prince street no more but I have still tried to change this issuE. THE MILE RULE WAS OK WHEN I WAS YOUNG, TIMES HAVE CHANGED AND THE RULE NEEDS TO CHANGE WITH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  63. anon 11:04, you wrote "THE MILE RULE WAS OK WHEN I WAS YOUNG, TIMES HAVE CHANGED AND THE RULE NEEDS TO CHANGE WITH IT!"

The county and the board of ed is broke. At some point opening up schools early will cost money. And how early is early enough? 7am? 6am? 5am? Also, year after year I'm skeptical that every school would find enough people to watch early arriving students. And what happens if one of them gets hurt when there are only volunteers around? Potential legal liability. Would this cause an increase in insurance?

But you can have all these things if you support a tax hike. Will you?

    ReplyDelete
  64. 1:54pm, well I would be MORE than happy to pay more taxes if it means protecting the children in our community. ALSO, I know for a fact that there have been teahcers volunteer to come in and open up the cafiteria early FOR FREE!

    ReplyDelete
  65. How can you set on here and talk about what if one of them gets hurt, hello what if one of them gets hurt walking? There are always excuses until somwone comes up missing than everyone becomes alert, gimme a break we are failing our children that's all there is to it.
