SHANIE SHIELDS OWED AN APOLOGY!

Yesterday we posted an item that criticized Councilwoman Shields for acting improperly when she stated to the media that she would not support Mayor Ireton if he were to fire Chief Webster. We reasoned – incorrectly – that she is precluded from making that statement because the matter previously had been discussed in a closed meeting of the Salisbury City Council. Even if that occurred, Ms. Shields is not precluded from discussing her position on the matter.

We apologize to Ms. Shields for our error.

  2. I, too, can apologize, but will not apologize for my comment which stated in part that if she does not back up Mayor Ireton then she did not listen to the citizens of this town plead for help and she has her own agenda.

  4. Now this is what should be done. Admit you are wrong instead of letting it go as if you are right. Good on you Joe

  5. But she is still out of touch.

  6. I actually like Shanie and fine her to be far better then the credit she is given. But in this instance she is wrong and should consider herself an independent and vote differently. There are plenty of voters she represents who are themselves the victims of violent and ordinary crime. She should forget her pals and vote for the people she represents!

  12. I appreciate your taking responsibility in this case, realizing where you're wrong and making amends. If only the new fruitcake blogger would realize what a laughingstock she's made of herself and do the same thing.

  13. Glad you did the right thing, Joe.

Now Shanie can apologize to us, just like 1:08 said. Thanks to her cahoots with Barrie and the Nightmare Team, good people have been hurt in this city so her puppeteers can make out like bandits.

How come she can comment on a personnel matter, but others can't?
