Senior Citizens And The City?

How would I post this on your site SBYNews?

Has anyone heard about the form that was being given to city employees asking them fill it out and give their opinion on if they think that senior citizens should be employed at the City of Salisbury? Also they wanted to know if they think that the senior citizens that are already employed, if anyone thinks that they are not capable of doing their job and if they should continue to be employed. What plan do they have up their sleeves? A way to get rid of people that are to receive retirement soon and this way they will not have to pay out retirement?Of course this will only concern the employees low on the totem pole and not the ones that hold a higher office, right?Someone needs to find out who circulated this. Whose idea this was.Did not work the way they wanted to though, I heard that most of the forms ended up in the trash.

  1. joe-i work for the city and did recieve one of these surveys last week. if this person bothered to read it, it came with a two page letter informing that it is a survey being conducted by a S.U. business class, and nothing more. as an older employee myself, i plan on filling it out and returning it. i have read over it once already, and saw no harm or secret agenda in it. the college is just reaching out to local employers for input.

  2. Sounds like age discrimination in the works under the guise of a survey.

  3. It's no big deal. Just a student project.

On the other hand, people think studies coming out of a university are "proof" of something.

Some of the studies that come out of SU aren't proof of anything except that some professors and students don't know how to write surveys.

  4. SU has many secrets including hiring people to teach a class who has no history of teaching anything. How would you like it if you were paying big bucks for your child to attend a class only to find out it's someone off the street who can't even type up the test for the class?

  6. I RECEIVED THE SURVEY AND AS AN OLDER WORKER I WAS OK IN FILLING IT OUT-IT IS A PROJECT OF THE COLLEGE-DIDN'T SEE ANY HARM IN IT.

  7. Joe,
9:06 is correct. The survey is for a Perdue Business, something about impressions of older workers in the workplace. I don't work for the city, but the accompanying letter indicated that the survey is being sent to a sampling of employers on the Shore.
I completed and mailed the postage paid return envelope the day...older workers often have a lot of experience, it kind of goes along with getting older.
