Merry Christmas Delmarva
The day after Christmas the Delmarva Peninsula will be "rolling" in entertainment as the brand new Skateworld, Crown Skating Center will swing their doors Saturday morning.
This 22,000 sq.ft. facility is to die for! Parents have been begging for such a facility and let me assure you of one thing, this is by far the finest facility in the United States. Sporting a $120,000.00 Specialty Sound & Lighting Equipment, you just won't believe what you're about to experience.
There's a DJ Booth in this place like none I have ever seen before and I personally cannot wait to see everything in action. The Birthday Party area is just HUGE! The kitchen is also one of the nicest I've seen around.
They'll open at 7:00 PM and go to 9:30 PM. The next shift goes from 9:30 PM to 12:00 PM. Then they'll open up to College Students from 12:00 PM to 3 AM. They'll be open 7 days a week. It will cost $8.00 to get in and $4.00 for roller skate rentals.
Folks, this place is a massive investment and absolutely a DEAL for entertaining.
We'll be providing updated information in the near future. Thank You Rick & Debbie Slatcher
sorry for the ignorance... looks like ice but will it be ice or roller?
ReplyDeleteYou gotta do a show from there.
ReplyDeleteMy fault, roller.
ReplyDeleteI think it's the plastic covering that goes over some hardwood/laminate to prevent scratching before it's ready to be presented? Just a hunch...
ReplyDeleteWow! This is great. I used to love going to the roller rink as a kid and it was a huge social event for me and my friends. I'm sure my daughter will have a great time there. Thanks to all involved in bringing such a wonderful facility to Salisbury!
ReplyDeleteFrom 12 midnight to 3AM is that only open to college students? Is the general public welcom to all sessions?
ReplyDeleteAWESOME...Skateland had nothing on this! I quess thats why the are calling it Skateworld. However, and indoor ice rink would of been better.
ReplyDeleteany other details? whats the scoreboard for? roller hockey?
ReplyDelete11:30 agreed. I wish there was an indoor ice rink here. The one in Ocean City is just crappy, and the one in Easton is great but so far away!
ReplyDeleteaww don't be downing skateland. in its day it was awesome i had so much fun there, but i can't wait to take my kids here it looks like alot of fun
ReplyDeleteSkating is for adults too. I love it!
ReplyDeleteRoller hockey would be outstanding.
ReplyDeleteA neighborhood roller rink is a great thing, and this one is the best I've seen. I hope that they keep the crowd wholesome, and believe that they will. And maybe you don't know, but there is a whole world of competetive roller skating out there...and this is a prime opportunity for any kid with agility and patience to get into roller skating seriously. These folks have a history of producing championship skaters, and that was in a much lesser facility. Jump into this, Eastern Shore! Here's a golden opportunity right in your back yard! An inexpensive, wholesome activity to keep your kids out of gangs and into physical activity! Go for it!
ReplyDeleteIt was an indoor ice skating rink first, but there was no business, so it had to shut it's doors. WHen my children attended Flora's Fitness @ Crown they went there and the kids enjoyed it but I don't think they got much business outside of that. I sure hope the same doesn't happen here! Will they only ever offer the 2 late evening shifts for the public? No Saturday/Sunday hours? Are you only allowed to skate from 7-9:30 OR 9:30-midnight...would you have to pay twice to stay through both shifts, or even ran over into the 9:30 shift? This is so exciting, but there are so many questions...
ReplyDeleteanonymous 3:45 & others, You'll get answers soon enough.
ReplyDeleteI personally do not believ an ice skating rink would survive anywhere here on the Eastern Shore and am glad to see this business open.
While parents complain about not enough positive things to do for their children, YOU have to support such businesses. Especially when they go all out and provide such a great place.
YOU also have to help the element within the business. This is a lot to take on and while one commenter wanted to complain about gangs, grow up. The business owner will do everything in their powers to keep this business a clean business. There are security cameras everywhere and believe me when I tell you, this couple will not tolorate such crap.
I'll add, remember what it costs you to send your kids to the theater for a movie. This is extremely reasonable and if your kids want to go more often, make them do more chores to do around the house and make them EARN it.
If it were my business you better believe if they want to stay over for the next shift, YES, they would have to pay. They have invested more than $500,000.00 into this facility in renovations and construction. The owner of the building has also spent a small fortune dividing the building from the other Crown Center, there's rent to pay and there's gas and electric as well as employees and insurance. The overhead is tremendous and as I have been in these kinds of businesses in the past, I can't stand it when everyone wants something for free and complain when they don't get it. It's probably the very reason why I sold them and got out.
So if you come in at 8 and pay $8.00 plus $4.00 for rental you can only skate until 9:30? Am I reading that correctly? The reason I ask is that Skateland was awesome back in the day. Had a good crowd and decent, clean, fun,for the whole family, but you could stay 3,4, or 5 hours if you wanted. You were not limited to 2.5 hours. Do they have a phone yet to call for questions or fliers available with info that we can stop and pick up...can't wait for more info to follow. I think it's a fabulous idea and one that Salisbury/Fruitland has needed for a long time. I know I will enjoy it with my children...I just hope others do as well so they can afford to stay open...and I hope they offer Saturday/Sunday DAY hours as well! Good Job guys, thank you!
ReplyDeleteIt's from 7:00 to 9:30, 2 1/2 hours. Now, tell me another place you can send your kids to be entertained for that kind of money.
ReplyDeleteAs for the other Rink, are they still open 7 days a week with brand new equipment? Enough said.
Hey kids if the snow hits you can get out there and earn money so you can go skating. There are many people out there that will need walkways and driveways plowed. Pick up a shovel and make some money so you can go skating. It's a win win situation!
ReplyDeleteIf I remember correctly, and this has only been 20 years ago, Skateland was one price untill either 11 or 12, and then you had to pay again for "Late Skate".
ReplyDeleteThe problem with kids/teens is that they DONT want to work anon 434PM. Its easier for Mom and Dad to open their wallets instead of making kids get out and shovel snow, do odd jobs, etc. When I was 12 yrs old I was working part time and that is unheard of now. I refuse to hand my child money anymore. Its time they work, regardless. Physical labor seems to be a thing of the past for kids. But they can text faster than I can type!
ReplyDeleteRick & Debbie Slatcher here from the new Crown Skating Center. Thanks for all of the wonderful comments. We will have our Holiday Calendar available at the Crown Skating Center on Monday. Please stop by to visit and pick up a calendar. We are still working on the January Calendar, but will let you know as soon as it is ready. And yes, we will have 1-4PM matinees in addition to evening skating sessions. We also plan to have skating classes, private skating parties, fundraising events, competitive skating and roller hockey. So, get your skates out, clean & oil the bearings and get ready to skate!!!
ReplyDeleteAnon 7:31 some kids can't get a job because we are not old enough. To get a job you either have to be 16 or 18 the places I've looked and I have been looking for over a year now. I don't ask my parents for money I pay for my own stuff. Yes we probably can text faster then you can type but that doesn't change anything. But yes i will agree with you that some kids are lazy and some are spoiled rotten because their parents give them anything and everything they want BUT there still are a few of us that have to earn what we want WITHOUT our parents help...
