Pat Buchanan had the guts to say it. It is about time
BUCHANAN TO OBAMA
By Patrick J. Buchanan
Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America. Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to... This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:
First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known. Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.
Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ' 60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks -- with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas -- to advance black applicants over white applicants. Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.
We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude???
Barack talks about new 'ladders of opportunity' for blacks. Let him go to Altoona ? And Johnstown , and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for 'deserving' white kids.? Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America ? Is it really white America 's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?
Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?
As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?
Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?
We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena .. And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.
Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago.
We are a Christian Nation even if Mr. Obama says we are not.
this was good and sooo true. So folks I told u this president was a bad choice. he is driving the US into the ground...and people who voted for him allowed it. shame on all u.
ReplyDeleteAll I have to say at this point is......
MAY GOD BE WITH US!!!!
Well said!!
ReplyDeleteWhen you say it like that, it's hard to argue with.
ReplyDeleteI guess you haven't heard of the Treaty of Tripoli:
ReplyDelete"...the Government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion..."
You can read more about it here:
http://www.earlyamerica.com/review/summer97/secular.html
Yes, and the Indians should be happy that whites game them reservations and casinos.
ReplyDeleteUntil we engage each other in a constructive, open, and honest manner, we will always be angry and misinformed. This is a conversation that we should be having with each other, not allowing blow hards like Buchanan or Wright to shape the debate for us. I bet you'll see that its pretty simple; we are all Americans. Within each ethnic group, most of us want to work hard and get ahead in life. Both ethnic groups have some individuals who would rather sit on their butt, cut corners, lie, steal, or cheat to make it. Shun these people, no matter which race they come from, while uplifting the good.
ReplyDeleteAmerica hasn't given blacks a thing! We are Americans and this country has been built on our backs and shoulders just as much as any other race (some would argue more). It's a shame that the contributions of blacks to this country is a subject not taught in schools. It's probably an even bigger shame that we still allow ourselves to be falsely portrayed as do-nothing welfare recipients, prostitutes, pimps, and thugs to the entire world today. Therefore I don't put the full blame on whites for having this mindset. But Buchanan and others who think like him need to step away from their hatred and crack open a book, or better yet, go out and talk directly to the people before you choose to bash them.
ReplyDeleteMost of the problems that you talk about in the black community are remnants of the institution of slavery, which white people did to black people. I find it very interesting that you omitted the whole "enslavement and oppression" bit from your list of all the things America has done for black people.
ReplyDeleteBut I guess being ripped from their homeland, forced to endure dangerous and often fatal transatlantic crossings, being separated from their families, sold to the highest bidders, beaten and forced into physical labor, being treated not as humans but as property, and denied the right to liberty and the pursuit to happiness is really not that bad when you consider that black people now have access to food stamps.
As always Joe, you are a master of logic. Way to show those bleeding-heart liberals what's what!! If only more black people read your blog, I bet we could solve this whole race thing in a jiffy.
Hey, maybe you could do community outreach at some of the predominantly black churches and schools in the area?
After all, it is important to take your message directly to the people you are talking about, rather than sending it out into cyberspace where they might not get to hear/read it and where you do not have the chance to respond to any questions they might have for you. Face-to-face interaction is what we need to really resolve race issues. I hope you will consider leading the charge.

ReplyDelete"ripped from their homeland" My ass...your/their own kind sold them to the whites, whites did not just go rip them away. What a crock...I will work my ass of so the guys on the corner "with their brown bags" sip all day on my dime, they sell the welfare stamps for cash and get a bottle, stand in the pouring rain drinking on me all day but won't walk in the sunshine to get a friggin job..what a crock of crap this race stuff is..
Whites have also done the most to push down blacks. So you can't say they have done the most to lift them up, out of what? What the whites have put them in. This letter is ridiculous.
ReplyDeletethat's exactly right 11:41
ReplyDeletebitch bitch bitch, but just try and offer a one way ticket back to the "homeland" and see how fast they take up the offer.
please
I have seen and had to engage in reverse discrimination
just to make a corporate HR#
and right here in SBY
with predictable outcomes of course
I left dc years ago, and the worst racism I've ever seen is right here and reverse
gimme gimme gimme
well GIMME a frickin break
- no one is to good for any job
Thank God Pat has the stones to point out the obvious...
ohboohoo - I can hear you know
Oh, and yes it is time for the Feds to stop funding the
Cash for Kids program
I can't remeber how many times I've been offered vouchers or whatever they are for 1/2 the value in cash. Apparantly welfare doesn't cover Newports and Colt45.
Happy Friday n
Have a Nice Day
The fact of the matter is;
ReplyDeleteSome white folks just don't like black folks. And, some black folks just don't like white folks. Will it ever change. Hell no. Fear and hatred is the fuel for racism. You people just don't get it. We were one nation on 911. Now, we just want to place blame on each other based on race. You people are just pathetic. Down right pathetic.
12:25
ReplyDeleteFor real...and I guess white people are making these thugs shoot people around town too, or maybe these thugs "are victims of their society" horse s*^t, the desire to succeed just insn't in their kind, they blame the whites for their misfortunes and bad times instead of making it on their own, hell walking to the mailbox for a living or paycheck is easier than going to work for it...
"America hasn't given blacks a thing!" BS
ReplyDelete"enslavement and oppression”
Where you enslaved or opressed? No? Where the current day black population ever slaves, no? So yet another BS ploy.
"This letter is ridiculous." No your just in denial, don't want to have to admit that its not the white folk that keep the backs down, they do it to themselves Get an education!
"Some white folks just don't like black folks" And maybe some of them have a good reason, like some of these comments.
Reverse discrimination is alive and well!
Oh Pat,
ReplyDeleteno more white house dinners for you;
but I do wonder really wonder how exactly B.O.
would honestly respond to this?
Has he been held down by the "man"?
Or did he figured out how to capitalize on white guilt and essentially dare anyone to call him out on it...
hmmm
Would he be where he is with his resume and experience if he were just some white boy? He'd be a state senator at best and none of us would have ever heard of him.
So come on people, you have every opportunity and even have
1/2 of a president
anom 11:37 what are you talking about it is not taught in school??? every day is black history month in the class rooms. I have yet heard anything come out of my children's mouth about any president except for the half breed one we have now. I am tired of my children only learning about the black history...there is other history needs to be taught.
ReplyDeleteIts not about the color of your skin, but it is about the carachter of your soul.
ReplyDeleteHalf Breed huh, you just insulted one of my grand kids. Does that make you feel like a bigger, better, smarter man? I think you are the one that needs to look inside yourself.
ReplyDeleteWhy dont we have Irish History month?
ReplyDelete1:17 II
ReplyDeleteTo make my point clear:
America has afforded us all alot of opportunities, but it is our combined contributions that have made America. Therefore nothing was given, it was earned.
1:22: sorry if your kids go to a crappy school. And unfortunately our schools do a poor job of teaching American History as a whole. This is why so many people, black and white, don't know about the contributions of blacks to American society. But to equate teaching black history to a teacher telling kids about Obama, is about as bad as claiming your kid is a physicist because the teacher drops Stephen Hawking's name a few times.
How long into our future can slavery be an excuse? Seriously? Its been 150 years or longer in some areas. 100 years from now, will blacks still blame slavery? 200 years? 300 years? One day, its gotta stop. Many ethnic groups have been suppressed under similiar or worse conditions, and thrive again 1 or 2 generations later.
ReplyDeleteThe truth is, if you're black you can go to college for free for being less qualified than a white applicant. You will get a job over equal applicants and eventually promotions over equal applicants because of pressure to employer's to fill quotas. You are being handed opportunities on a silver platter, EMBRACE THEM!
There are no blacks that are in slavery now so get over it our generations never owned slave so get over it already and how about all the black families that did own black slaves, if the blacks would wuit using this poor excuse maybe they would get further in life instead of robbing and selling drugs and walking in the middle of the street there are sidewalks you know!!!! But seriously get over the slave crap we didnt do it and your not slves now and your own color owned slaves!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletedoesnt obama have some white in him too!!!
ReplyDeleteI feel that everyone regardless of race, color or social-economic status all have the ability to succeed in life. What it takes is the determination to do better by educating yourself and by changing the way that you spend your spare time (aka studying versus hanging out). No one with the proper determination will fail unless they just give up hope. I believe the many of the down-trodden are victims of their own demise. They either haven't the gumption or the faculties with which to bring themselves up from their current status and it's not the "white" mans fault.
ReplyDeleteI have spoken with several black Americans who all pretty much say the same thing; work hard, stay out of trouble and educate yourself. Has anyone ever spoken with people from Africa who migrate to this country? I don't recall ever hearing any of those folks complaining about how the "man" is holding them back, on the contrary. What I here is that this is the land of opportunity. If you want to see desperation and despair you should look at the populations of sub-Saharan, last time I checked these were countries with extremely high (99.99%) black populations that were run by, and I believe this to be correct so please feel free to let me know if I'm wrong, black leadership. I'm not sure what you would call this but I'm leaning towards something like "the black man is keeping the black man down" or something like that. I mean no disrespect to any of my fellow readers but I did want to voice just one more opinion and have it added to the many others who have already and will continue to do so.
The problems in the black community are not as a result of Slavery. That is a rediculous assertion because as recently as the 60s and 70s, the black family was the envy of society. Black families used to be married, hard working, church going, and very hard on their children. The made them understand that they were going to have a more difficult time than other races. Black families have higher rates of marriage and lower rates of divorce. They had stable family units. What has happened? Government entitlements have happened. These programs advertised to help do nothing but kill ambition and competition. The government and "black" leaders have done that community a huge diservice by endorseing and lobbying for these programs. These programs(welfare, affirmative action among others) have destroyed the once proud black family. In interviews, you will never hear jesse Jacka$$ or Al Sharpton admit that now 70% of black children are born out of wedlock. The government has replaced the black fathers and somehow made it acceptable for him to have as many kids as he can with as many women as he can and support none of them. Look at how some black people who identify the problem(bill cosby and Larry elder) are savaged and dismissed. Until the black community gets some real leadership and the family unit is reestablished your future is set. It all starts in the family. As Larry Elder says, if you want the perfect recipe for poverty, just don't graduate from high school and have children out of wedlock and you will be poor. The government can't and won't ever give you enough to get out because if you got out and see how the other half sees things they would lose a voter. No one in their right mind would continue to support these extremely failed programs. Please black women, Keep your babies daddy accountable. He should be supporting your children, not the government
ReplyDeleteevery race has been enslaven at some point. the blacks are the only ones who constantly whine about it and use it as an excuse. get over it already. you havent been slaves for over a hundred years. and anyone reading this has NEVER been a slave. move on or move out already.
ReplyDeleteAll I have to say Obama not hurting this country stupid a** white people that makes these comments are. As long as you seperate talk this will happen America will kill itself believe that. Why should we be worried about al queda, taliban, terrorist, after 9/11 you would think we may come together hell our country being bombed can't do that nothing can. This disgusts me.
ReplyDeleteMORE has been spent on black folks than on white folks.
ReplyDeletenot to forget the black slave runners who sold their brothers into slavery a hundred years ago. much like the druggies of today cause slavery is what addiction is.
ReplyDeleteStatistically, black immigrants to America are more successful than black US citizens. Why is that?they come from Communist and sometimes very brutal countries with nothing but the clothes on their backs and they often are forced to take low paying jobs but they are able to climb out of poverty, and send their kids to college. How do they do it?
ReplyDelete
