In today's "Our View" in the Daily Times, I just couldn't believe what I was reading.
"My oh my, how the dramatics were on display Monday night."
"An outdoor citizens rally at the Government Office Building -- intended to fire people up -- mercifully fizzled." LMAO! Fizzled, one thing I can assure you of is that the individual who wrote this certainly wasn't there.
"Later inside, the police chief outlined an action plan that made people wonder: Why haven't we been doing this all along?" AND??????
"A Salisbury businessman, who has been using crime statistics interpretations for seemingly political purposes, publicly called for the chief's resignation." Seemingly??????
"The council vice president told the mayor he was "sick and tired of the inaction by this administration." The Mayor just started his job. Gary has been on Council for how many years now and crime has done what during that time?????
"Oh, and the community newspaper -- almost as if "shoot the messenger" was the new public policy -- was skewered by the mayor in what appeared to be a blatant diversionary tactic." You mean like not being welcome to a Press Conference with the SPD, ouch! If Carmean stopped acting like a child and treated the Mayor with some respect it wouldn't be like this.
"It's long been observed that "people will always elect the government they deserve." Sorry, but no one deserves this much drama." Sell your Newspaper before it's too late. You just lost a ton of subscribers with your own line of DRAMA.
Rather then wining, perhaps you could spend more time offering solutions. Instead, the Daily Times is crying because they got spanked by the Mayor and rightfully so. Where's the article about the Mayor asking the Chief for his resignation????? Oh, that Reporter must have been OFF DUTY yesterday evening. The Daily Times "More Money, Less News."
my thoughts exactly!
ReplyDeletethe daily disappointment ahs never fully covered the shenigans that goes on with our elected officials or the crime in salisbury whether it be in the schools or on the streets. That's why the paper is irrelevant. any news in that paper is always taken from the AP, and they are always days late in reporting it. for those worried about the environment they ought to save the trees and just let the daily disappointment die a peaceful death! What a joke of a paper!
ReplyDeleteSomeone who doesn't know the back story would think that it was a well written piece with the citizens interest first and foremost.
ReplyDeleteTo readers in the know it comes off as sour grapes. During BPT's reign, where was the Daily Times???Now they care about crime, lmao!!!!
Perhaps Carmean, and Laura D. should be treated as the children they are acting like and sent to bed without supper. On Christmas morning they should find a big lump of coal, and if there's any justice, a pink slip.
The Times doesn't know it yet, but several other local Gov. officials have told their employees the same thing Ireton did. Do not talk to the Daily Times ever, or without notice to your superior as of immediately. Mayor Ireton started something good. So the Times can't practice it's lies and agenda of destruction of peoples lives and busineses. It needs to learn to investigate, not write all the crap the propaganda local officials do in order to upset and destroy the lives of the citizens od Salisbury. Someone needs to teach Bassett how to run a NEWSPAPER. Not a propaganda machine full of lies.
ReplyDeleteDo they really take themselves seriously over there? That's sad!
ReplyDeleteThe daily times is the paper to train your dog on or to line the bottom of a bird cage with.
ReplyDeleteWow 10:48. How may original thoughts like that do you get everyday ?
ReplyDeleteI cancelled that rag two years ago. It's absolutely worthless. I love ready a daily paper but wouldn't waste a minute of my life on that biased, non-news piece of crap!
ReplyDeleteAnother brilliant analysis from the editors of the DT, they must have worked extra hard on this one.
ReplyDeleteDo you think they attend the same school of analytical thinking as the chief and his top lieutenant? How did we ever get so lucky.
Come on, we have a very well connected, highly political reporter who is only interested in reporting a very biased news story and in getting dirt. It shows in all her reporting, which by the way is usually not worth reading because she fails to get a complete story, or present both sides of the story, and for this the DT thinks it should be respected? Oh occasionally, they write an editorial that actually seems like they have tried to show they are fair, but it's all such a show and is more likely to be a bait and switch effort to solicit information. Buyer beware! Watch them!
ReplyDeleteUsual trash...
ReplyDeleteThis is an EDITORIAL, dummies ... NOT written by a reporter, but by a person whose JOB is to write OPINION pieces based on news and events. How can there be people out there who still don't understand this?? That is the purpose of the op-ed page, for editorials! The editorial board and the newsroom are separate entities! Not matter your love or hate of the self-described community newspaper, this is undisputed fact. It's not rocket science.
ReplyDelete"The Mayor just started his job". He started in April, that is eight (8) months. What has he done in that 8 month time frame other than photo ops? NOTHING!
ReplyDeleteYou IDIOTS got just what you voted for. NOTHING!
12:18: nice feedback
ReplyDeleteto all the "righties": how does it feel? Your adored Fox News does exactly the same thing each and every day and they actually report is as FACT as opposed to this DT EDITORIAL. I guess since Fox News supports your "side" it's OK, but now that the DT does the same thing, well, obviously there's a problem. What's the word I'm looking for??? Hypocrites... yep, that's it!!
but seriously, the only REAL problem is that there are "sides" C'mon people, this is America!!! What happened to united we stand, divided we fall? The seperation we have in this country has only been seen one time here before... around the 1860's. Are you ready for that? Are you ready for a 2nd civil war? Even worse... what are we going to do the next time we are attacked? Are we going to stand around bitching and complaining and argueing about what to do? That IS the direction we are going. If we continue this path, there will be no USA, there will be a Republican States of America vs Democrat States of America. Is that what you want? Keep it up and that IS exactly what you will get if you can't simply learn to live and work together. I don't care which side you are on, this county makes it's decisions based on the opposite of what the other side wants. Half of the people are sheep and the other half should be insitutionalized!! People need to wake up and think for themselves... it's that simple. It's getting uglier and uglier everyday, and while the popular opinion is to blame the president, the truth is we, the citizens are to blame.
Hey 1:52 PM
ReplyDeleteWhat choo talkin' bout Willis? Talking about the president? How do you think he got elected??? By all of the sheeple that didin't care about his message or his ability to lead or his experience. They voted purely because of the "historical aspect". Oh, brother. You get what you vote for. Educate yourself on who is running for office and don't vote because you know someone or they look good or they are a good bubba, etc. etc. Vote because of what that person can and will do for the people. And if they don't hold up to their promise...then don't put them back in office. BPT overstayed her welcome, perfect example of what I'm talking about.
If you are going to bust on Fox News then you better go take a look at MSNBC. Maddow, Olberman, and Matthews....now there's some real good reporting/opinions to listen to. NOT!!!
Getting back on topic of the newspaper reporting...What ever happened to someone just reporting the news and not trying to one up someone or get the stink on something and then spin it? What about "just the facts". Yeah and Gary Comegy....he's been real tough on crime during his tenure. A real proactive kinda guy. Why don't we just run over and purchase another fire boat or another contaminated "free" vacant lot on the river. That'll teach those criminals. Give me a break!
hey 1:52 so which group do you fall into? I'm betting the institutionalized category!
ReplyDeleteSeem's to me there are only two groups, those who work hard for their family's and want to keep what they've earned, and those who want to take what others have earned and give it to themselves or their friends! whether it be wall street or main street! come to my house I'll give you something! a free ride to the morgue!
I called to cancel a couple of weeks ago, they "said" they didn't list me as a subscriber- and i'm still getting it- pretty hard up way to keep suscribers- we'll see what happens when I quit paying the bill.
ReplyDeleteThat editorial sounded like a taunt, nyah, nyah, a miserable, bullying child.
ReplyDelete"My oh my." What kind of start to an editorial is that? Sounds like it was written by that poster GoodnightCanada from the DT article chat. He sounds like a foot-stomping 5th grader too.
The Daily Times is competing with The National Enquirer to peddle smut. So sad!
