During a vote to restructure the County Council, Gail Bartkovich is now the Council President and Sheree Sample-Hughes is now the Council Vice President.
The city council could take a lesson from the county and follow suit.

ReplyDeleteI think Mrs. Bartkovich made it very clear. She made a committment to her colleagues as well as the people that she will keep everyone on the council informed about all county business. Ms. Sample-Hughes and Ms. Bartkovich will work very well together because they respect each other.

ReplyDeleteThis is good news! Cannon fooled a lot of people during his campaign and most of us have realized that he wasn't the one we should have supported, but it was too late. Now he will know what it feels like to be a regular council person instead of a one man show. Congratulations Mrs. Bartkovich and Mrs. Sample-Hughes. I know you will do a great job with the leadership of the County Council.

This looks like a shift to a more partisan council to me.Not sure that's a good thing.We'll see.

I think John is setting up a run for county exec. It has been talked about for the last 6 months. This will make his leaving the council less disruptive.

Cannon and McCain must have egos to want to hold their seats. They will be lucky to get reelected next year if they run.

ReplyDeleteI don't know about Cannon's ego but I have been awfully disappointed in McCain. Never knew him before he ran and heard good things about him so I voted for him. He is as arrogant as they come. Even the people who spoke so kindly of him have unkind things to say now.
ReplyDeleteOMG. Barkovich is like a deer caught in the headlights. Why haven't they hired an internal auditor? It's in the charter but by firing the other one they have made sure that no one wants to work for them.

Justin Case :Cannon and McCain were elected by the people as councilmen...why would they not continue to serve as such ? To leave now would be a petulant and immature reaction to what occured.
To all of you knocking Gail,she is a very diligent council person and I think she will do what she believes is right for this county and it's citizens. Give her a chance before you start kncoking her.Same for Sheree.
Ms. Barkovich do the right thing and settle the F.O.P. law suit before it goes to trail in January. Save the citizens and the county a great deal of money. This matter should have be resolved months ago. None of us can afford a lengthy court battle. There has to be some type of resolution that can be made. Be the one that does the right thing. I know full well that you have been around long enough to know it was no attempt by the deputies to gouge the county and its citizens.
