Some people say that any publicity is good publicity but Sarah Palin reportedly disagrees with that principle. The upcoming issue of Newsweek features Palin in her running outfit leaning against the American flag with the title "How Do You Solve A Problem Like Sarh?" The cover clearly emphasizes Palin's looks over her intellect and explicitly frames Palin as a source of trouble for the GOP as opposed to a leader. As Palin attempts to beef up her policy credentials and rebrand her image with the release of her book "Going Rogue" the Newsweek cover is exactly the image she is trying to overcome.
Realizing the impact of the cover Palin has reportedly responded on her Facebook page with the following message:
"The choice of photo for the cover of this week's Newsweek is unfortunate. When it comes to Sarah Palin, this "news" magazine has relished focusing on the irrelevant rather than the relevant. The Runner's World magazine one-page profile for which this photo was taken was all about health and fitness - a subject to which I am devoted and which is critically important to this nation. The out-of-context Newsweek approach is sexist and oh-so-expected by now. If anyone can learn anything from it: it shows why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, gender, or color of skin. The media will do anything to draw attention - even if out of context. "
The Newsweek cover is yet another example of Palin's continual struggle with the media. In one way the press is Palin's best friend as their coverage of her has made her a household name who is able to sell millions of books before it is even released. On the other hand the media has continually painted a picture of Palin which (right or wrong) delegitimize her before much of the American public.

Joe , it's very obvious that the democrates are afraid of her. She is a threat to the obama administration because of her truths. I'm a 66 year old male and would be proud to have her as President of the United States of America. She rocks!!!!
ReplyDeleteto hell with the complaints - she looks good to me - lol
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else realize that SHE posed for the picture? It's not a candid shot. What did she pose for, in that attire, if she didn't want it published? Were the pics taken by Newsweek photographers or Runners World Magazine?
ReplyDeleteOK, just found the answer to my own question. The pic was taken for Runners World (you can see the credit if you blow up the pic). Was there an exclusivity contract that the pic was only to be used by RW? Palin may be complaining to the wrong magazine.
ReplyDeleteI also see now that the article says it was taken from RW. Okay - so I've had my "duh" moment of the day.
ReplyDeleteInstead of worrying about her looks - candidate hot, not hot, hot. Let's focus on her accomplishments. What are they?
ReplyDeleteand if we are going to elect a PResident on looks, can we elect Altair Jarabo please?
While the liberal media loves talking about her and trashing her on national television she is making millions. Her book would not be as popular if it wasn't for them talking about her every day. Good Job idiots. I love Sarah Palin. She would have done a wonderful job as a vice president. She would have stopped the corruptness thats ruining this country like she did in Alaska. Oh, and I'm a conservative democrat.
ReplyDeleteTracy, I'm sure Palin doesn't care what picture they used, but to use that picture and caption it the way they did is painting her as too good looking to be taken seriously. She's entitled to her opinion, it only makes me like her more, and I haven't read Newsweek in years, shame on them.
ReplyDeleteJefferson, accomplishments didn't seem to matter when Obama got elected!
ReplyDeleteShe can make all them money she wants. Please nominate her! That way we can be assured to win the White House again!!!!
ReplyDeleteLiberals hate women
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand the media has continually painted a picture of Palin which (right or wrong) delegitimize her before much of the American public.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, now I know where Chiefy gets his tactics! Isn't this what he and Smith have done to several crime victims, delegitimized them as uncreditable individuals making it seem that the crimes against them were somehow their fault, not his, not the SPDs?!?!?!? The lady Ann who was assaulted in her own home and then shut down at the Council meeting comes to mind.
They left hates her because she has it all ! Brains ,beauty and charisma !
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is WOW!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLets see them with a cover shot of Obama dressed like a camel jockey or in a pimp suit then we will talk about fairness. When she actually wins the next election alot of you libs will be eating crow.
ReplyDelete11:38 said: "Liberals hate women"
ReplyDeleteThat is the stupidest comment I have ever read in my entire life.
In 2012 she'll be AMERICA'S HOTTEST PRESIDENT EVER! What a milf.
ReplyDeleteNo 11:38 liberals love women.
ReplyDeleteWe're not the ones telling women what they can and can't do with their bodies.
11:33 I completely agree with you but do you think they really can be that clueless to run her.
If they do, it will absolutely destroy the Republican Party.
awd lik ta git me som o dat
ReplyDeletePalin is more qualified then our current president! Who looks like a cross between Steve Urkel and Curious George.
ReplyDeleteJefferson, all I heard about when Obama was elected (and continue to hear ad nauseum) is about how cool it is to have the first black president. so yes, the election WAS about looks, he apparently was elected because he was black. Palin wasn't voted for because she looks like a dumb beauty pageant contestant.
ReplyDeleteElection was not about looks. Obama was elected due to lack of better candidate from either party.
ReplyDeleteJohn McCain would have a far better chance if he selected a more qualified candidate, or at a least better spoken one. I'm a registered democrat and considered voting for him until he selected Palin as his VP. While it initially increased his rating, educated republicans quickly realized that she is in to way fit to be a VP. McCain probably attempted to draw female electorate by selecting a female VP. Unfortunately for him, it backfired by insulting the intelligence of many women. Just because a woman is on the ticket does not mean that women will automatically vote for her.
Same goes for Obama, those who voted for him based on his looks or skin color are just as ignorant.
Thank you
Enabling abortion hardly proves you like women that's laughable and nothing to do with Sarah Palin . If you want to talk about abortion liberals are for it because more black babies are aborted than any other race ! Not only do you hate women your racist !
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone read NewsWEAK, anyway?
ReplyDeleteIn this politically correct world, a beautiful, real woman, that is conservative, successful, and has the ability to balance career, family and controversy in the manner that Palin does, is absolutely mortifying to the feminists!
ReplyDeleteShe contradicts every aspect of their philosophy and presents a threat, in their mind, for everything for which they stand.
Their goal: SHE MUST BE DESTROYED!
Will they be sucessful is the question.
3:05 PM
ReplyDeletekinda sad isn't it?
Nobody will mistake her for Hillary (especially Slick Willy)!
ReplyDeleteHow about you read the article? The cover is truly what's irrelevant here, not some percieved sexist insinuations on the cover.
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin's writing skills leave much to be desired.
ReplyDeleteThe simple question is this:
ReplyDeleteWould you rather look at Obama's stupid mug on TV every night bowing to every foreign leader he sees, or look at Sarah while she stands up for the U.S.A. ?
Don't have to think about that very much.
You left dud s can't find anything of substance to attack her with so you call her dumb and then you hold up Joe Biden as your V.P. you guys are pathetic !
ReplyDeleteAnon 4:10, your logic is astonishing!
ReplyDeleteIt is clear to me that any connection between your reality and mine is purely coincidental.
Alex , sorry the democrat record speaks for it self . Do they stand for anything anymore besides attack !
ReplyDelete6:06 can you give an example, or show us some of your printed literature ? Or is this another drive by hit job directed from your state run media ?
ReplyDelete6:06-three whippings for you.
