ReplyDeleteA 20 year old picture of a kid playing with dads cigs would compare to a current picture of a kid playing with moms cellphone. No big deal.
Both of my parents smoked. Nobody cared. I remember seeing my little sister crawling around with a butt in her mouth. Nobody cared.
This should bug you too, my child seat was the bump between the front seats and my safety belt was Moms arm, with a lit cig in her hand.
First hand or second hand the results are the same.

I know it's off the subject but I have to respond to your comment. I remember sitting on the armrest that pulled down between the driver and passenger seat. No seat belt, nothing. My siblings and I used to fight over who would sit there. LOL I don't recall wearing a seat belt very much growing up now that I think about it.

I love people that say "seond hand smoke is worse than first".....well then next time you see someone smoking a cigarette, just ask them for one since it would be worse to just stand there and breathe theirs in. Great logic

This type of parenting is NOT what the majority of ES parents utilize.Neglegtful parenting can be found all over the USA, including affluential homes.

Secondhand smokers have a risk of coronary heart disease that is 30% higher than for nonsmokers who are not exposed to secondhand smoke. In contrast, the risk for actual smokers is increased by 80%. So, while the dose of smoke inhaled by passive smoking is 100 times smaller than for smokers, the increase in risk to the nonsmokers is much, much greater than that. Indeed, their excess risk is almost 40% as high as the excess risk to the smokers themselves.

It is because of some of the judgemental comments like the ones on here that I am affraid to get pictures of my son when he was about a year old with a beer bottle in his hand! It was empty and he grabbed it from under a chair in the lawn during a family cook out, but there is no doubt one of the idgets on here work in the photo processing department at Walmart and would call the police swearing I was a bad parent!! Thanks for not having a tiny bit of loose humor in your uptight arses.
