The truth about this this thing is it really works. My brother when he was the dock master at the Port of Salisbury ran this thing a couple of times a week and picked up a mess of debris. You can park this thing in one spot turn on the roters in the front and bring the stuff right to you. I always joked with him that he would bring up a body some day.
OMG that's just freaking funny. Actually once SFD gets their boat they can pick up trash daily. We will get em a couple of pool skimmers and just use the $1 million boat and we are in business. They need some reason to take it out.
My company owns the skimmer. We are ready to put the skimmer to work! It fits under the bridge at The Market Street Inn (except for during high tides), and they have given us permission to park the skimmer overnight in the event that we get caught in a high tide, as the Market Street Inn would like the river cleaned as well.
I have been told that this skimmer was sokd to a former city employee for $ 5000. He fixed it up and they are most likely going to sell it back for $ 20,000. That story has been heard by most city employees.
hey wouldn't it be wonderful if they could create something similar to pick up all the trash people walking the streets at 3 in the morning? Just scoop their butts right up and hall them off!!
i believe that the city of salisbury sold the boat at public auction b/c it was not needed any more. i think it was like three years ago when they sold it as surplus
Gee this is funny. The Daily Crimes posted a story about one of these boats that is in the Inner Harbor at 4:59 p.m. Get your own news stories losers!!!!!!!!!!
3:21 Man, you're crazy. I've listened to this crap long enough! Ginger? are you serious? Mary Ann was and still is the only babe on that island! OK, OK sure Mrs. Howell looked good naked for her age, but, come on, Ginger?
Of course it is going to cost something to run this thing! You people who want it done for no cost, reimburse AMC for their investment and run the thing yourselves. It's not free to run these things, you know, and with all investments, comes risk.
I am glad to hear that the skimmer is still here and has been repaired. I heard that it had not been maintained very well by the city- what's new. I also heard that it is a little work horse. The city bought a pontoon boat a few years ago with a hefty price tag so that PW employees could go out and skim the river. That money should have just been invested in fixing the skimmer. We'll probably see the pontoon boat at a city auction sometime soon. Maybe Gary, Lynn, or Mike Dunn will buy it for themslves. they are the ones who had to have it for the city. Anyway, thank you Atlantic Marine. Let's restore the sanity in the way that we take care of our city. My family and I will volunteer. Two of us are very experienced boaters. Can we call you to volunteer?
Here is an idea. If so many people want to help clean the river, why don't you all push away from the computer, get a net, and go catch some trash. It is that easy. Seriously.
anonymous 4:47, maybe they're right. I mean, clearly the Mayor isn't going to do anything about it. He's more about photo ops and press conferences than he is fulfilling campaign promisses.
looks like something the SFD would buy
ReplyDeleteI'll run the friggin thing for free. What's the hold-up?

ReplyDeleteI will come out of retirement and help 2:44 run the damn thing for nothing.
ReplyDeleteIt is truly disgusting to ride down Carrol St and see all that trash floating in the river.
Salisbury's government should be ashamed of themselves. I guess this thought is kinda like asking a Skunk to be offended by his odor.
Do you suppose they have traded this piece of machinery in on the new fire boat?
ReplyDeleteIf not maybe it could be retrofitted to be towed behind the new fireboat.

ReplyDeleteLet's get 'er done!!!,
Atlantic Marine Construction, Inc.
lol. You so crazy. Maybe we can have a all aboard trash skimming party and play Gilligan's Island for halloween. I call Ginger.
ReplyDeleteThat wont make it under the bridge.
ReplyDeleteThats been there for at least 3 weeks.Thats 21 days time 2 high tides a day = 63 high tides trash has been floating.

ReplyDeleteFuel aint free.
ReplyDeleteInsurance aint free.
ReplyDeleteClean up the river first and then park that pig right in front of the new outfall pipe coming from Waverly.
ReplyDeleteThat skimmer has been in Salsibury for YEARS!!!! My husband's company made the mesh belting on it. It works GREAT! Where has it been?????
ReplyDeleteThat things been under the bridge many times it works can't believe the city sold it bunch of idiots .
ReplyDeletehey wouldn't it be wonderful if they could create something similar to pick up all the trash people walking the streets at 3 in the morning? Just scoop their butts right up and hall them off!!
ReplyDeleteI guess this was one thing that was cut from the budget so they could buy the new fire boat, fire truck, fire house, fire fire fire...
ReplyDeletewaaaaaaaa Joe's cries about the trash in the water and now cries when there is something to clean the place up.
ReplyDeleteAtlantic Marine has offered to help so what is the damn problem?
ReplyDeleteAMC, Inc. How did you all take ownership and possession of the C.C. Debris? Please enlighten us?
ReplyDeleteWhen you skin the river is it going to cost the tax payers?
i believe that the city of salisbury sold the boat at public auction b/c it was not needed any more. i think it was like three years ago when they sold it as surplus
ReplyDeleteAtlantic Marine, if you will contact Joe regarding what it will cost to make one run to clean up the river I will help to raise the money.
ReplyDeletePerhaps if the City Government see's the value to the city of having a cleaner river they will fund a continuing effort.
Joe knows how to get up with me.

Frank Rocks The Debris!

ReplyDeleteThe trash skimmer is a great icon.
ReplyDeleteIf it is ever put into service, it will do good.
The existing fire boat is a great icon.
If it is ever put into service, it will do good.
The proposed $900,000.00 Fire/ Terrorist/ Armageddon boat will be a great icon.
If it ever needs to be put into service, the world, as we know it, will have ended.
Stop the madness.
3:25, if Frank says it will fit under the bridge, it will fit. Heck, he can pick it up with a crane and set it on the other side if he wishes.
ReplyDelete4:11, Wrong on all accounts. Since when does the city buy back equipment that they sold as surplus junk? It is owned by Atlantic Marine Construction.
The city sold the machine years ago as surplus equipment. AMC bought it. End of story.
Call AMC for all of you marine construction (and trash skimming) needs.
signed, an old AMC friend.

Maybe the Trash Skimmer can skim up Liarton the next time he is at Turd River doing one of his infamous photo ops!!
