Thanks Joe. I miss the simple life. I'm grateful to have grown up in that time. Wouldn't want to grow up in these. God knows they were special times..ones we will never forget. Thanks for the smile.
For those of us that tear up after watching every moment of this, besides thanking our moms, let's try and to keep these traditions alive for our children. God Bless your family Joe. Tom Miller
I also grew up in this era and life was good then! Wish kids of today could understand this kind of lifestyle and what we really had (a lot less than kids today but certainly a richer life back then).
thanks joe for reminding me how old i am but yes i did enjoy the time of life to bad our kids will never have that chance as today there life is HELL and disaplen has been taken out of the home and put in the hands of the goverment i remember when my dad would come home after work and if i was bad i regeted it with a belt but like they say them days are gone (to bad)
Thank You Joe, What a great time to remember all the things we enjoyed as kids in the 50's! It was so much better then, than now. Todays kids grow up too fast and are given way too much!! Today's kids are baby sat with a cell phone and TV's. We all played together and had fun, something todays kids do not know how to do.
These are very trying times for you & your family, filled with many mixed emotions, I'm sure But------The time you now spend with your Mother will be the most precious & memorable of your life.
My Mother had cancer & came to live her last 4 months of life here at our home. She, after our Father passed, had made all arrangements for her burial ,seeing how strenious a time it was for her children with his passing.
I think how very blessed we were to have "Time."----Some never have the opportunity to say their final good bys, their final request or those things that have been left unsaid for far to long to a loved one.
Difficult times , yes, But these will------in time, be some of your fondest & most cherished memories.
Knowing your Mother is at peace wtih God & where she's going gives you the "Peace" that's intended for you to have.
Yeah it was a great time when the rest of the worl was in a post-war shambles so everything was cheap because we were the only surviving, I mean thriving, ecoomy. It was a great time to be a part of the majority at a time when all of the minorities knew better than to disturb the pleasant world our parents had created for us. I don't mean to rain on the little trip down memory lane, believe me, I feel it too. But there is always another side and the 50's and 60's were not the best times for everybody. I think our parents were the greatest generation because they thought about someone other than themselves but what was good for the country as a whole. We had great parents and a great childhood, lets not repay it by being know as the self indulgent generation.
I'm only 25 years old but even the changes in the last 2 decades are significant. That's not to mention those who have seen 5, 6, or 7 decades go by since their youth. I could relate to a lot (not all) of the things mentioned. It truly is a shame how drastically different things can get in such a short period of time.
Yes those times are over...GET OVER IT... a new generation has taken the baby boomers place... the baby boomers who put my generation in all this crap we are into now... cause things are so crappy... blame yourselves baby boomers... My generation will take it from here.. just stop
I remember, ALL of these things. Life certainly WAS better back then! People KNEW each other and interacted with EACH OTHER, not through an email or cell phone text!

ReplyDeleteThose were the days my friends. Sadly, they have been replaced by progress and technology. To bad for our kids and grandkids.
