Wesley Cox, CCIM of Sperry Van Ness - Miller Commercial Real Estate in cooperation with Peter Rosan and Scott Manhoff of Grubb & Ellis sold the former Powerwave facility also known as the former Philtronic Comtek property. The buyer was The Tri-County Council of the Eastern Shore. This sale was the culmination of a several year project on behalf of the Tri-County Council in search of a facility to help consolidate their operations and services they offer.
Constructed in 1996, this well designed facility is situated directly on U.S. Rt. 50 across from Wor-Wic community college. The building contains over 74,000 SF and is situated on 27.59 acres. There is a 20,000 SF two-story office component and a 54,000 SF single story fully conditioned manufacturing component. The building also features a 165 seat cafeteria and a two-story atrium in the lobby entrance.

The Tri-County Council for the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland was formed by an Act of the Maryland General Assembly in 2001. The purpose of the Council is to facilitate regional planning and development in Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties. As stated in the legislation, the Council is a tax-exempt public body corporate and politic and is an independent unit.
2:25 thanks for the explanation. One does wonder, however, just where do they get their money/funding from. The General Assembly? the County Council? I'm pretty sure WE are paying for it in one form or another.

ReplyDeleteThe Tri-County Council along with all of the other partners and social service organizations located at the One Stop Job Market have no choice but to move as the owners of the property plan to develop it.
ReplyDeleteOrganizations such as Department of Social Services, Tri-County Council, Lower Shore Workforce Alliance, Telamon, Department of Labor, Fostering Our Children Until Success, Maryland Workforce Exchange, Shore Transit, Department of Rehabilitative Services etc... along with new organizations will have a more cohesive and collective ability to help those in need.
Among other public benefits, by consolidating locations this will help lower the cost of several rented public/state buildings as well as reduce utility costs for said organization.
Before you bash this long anticipated move you better say one heck of a prayer that you never need any type of public assistance and I certainly don't just mean welfare.
Were in a depression, stop spending money.
