Catholic church eyes Anglicans who may feel their church is too liberal
VATICAN CITY - Pope Benedict on Tuesday took a major step to make it easier for disaffected Anglicans who feel their church has become too liberal to convert to Roman Catholicism.
The move comes after years of discontent in some sectors of the 77-million-strong worldwide Anglican community over the ordination of women priests and homosexual bishops.
While both sides stressed the step would not affect dialogue between the two churches, it was clear it was taken because of the growing number of Anglicans who want to leave their Church.

Even church is all about money, makes me sick.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the Pope thinks if they make it easier for people to convert then less dioceses will declare bankruptcy. Couldn't the Vatican float them a loan.
ReplyDeleteformer Catholic
The Vatican takes care of the Vatican. Its a business.
ReplyDeleteVery big & lucrative business.
ReplyDeleteMore people more money, that is all they care about.
ReplyDeleteAs an Episcopal I have been contemplating this myself. I love the lithurgy and the church, but I don't don't really stand with the church on it's loose morality regarding homesexuality, that's just me excercisng my right to express myself.

ReplyDeleteDon't you know...those Catholics...they just take up collections to raise money to buy tickets to heaven.
ReplyDeleteWhat do we see that proves they use the money for anything good like: feeding the hungry (Food for the Poor Inc), clothing the poor (St. Vincent de Paul), providing shelter to the homeless (Sisters of Mercy), serving the sick (The Camillian Task Force), promoting life (Crisis Pregnancy Center), counseling the depressed (http://www.catholictherapists.com/), preserving thousands of years of history and literature (The Vatican)...
Did any of you actually read the entire article? (which mentions nothing of money by the way) This is monumentally open-minded and forward thinking from the Vatican. The church has never apologized for it's conservative stand on critical social issues, and it has also never waivered on them. Now they have opened their doors to simply offer options - choices to those distressed by libral changes to their Belief.
If you don't like it, exercise your personal ability to think and "vote with your dollars" at another church! But don't ignorantly pass judgment on mine.

ReplyDeleteI, for one, am not ignorantly passing judgement on your religion. I'm not Catholic now, but I was Catholic for a very long time. Catholic views have always been extremely conservative (even when I went to Catholic school). But they seem to always be about money. That's why I exercised my right to leave the Catholic church. No one said they don't do any good for people but the Vatican didn't get built on good deeds.
I can see the slogan "If you hate gays join us"
ReplyDelete1:23,
ReplyDeleteAmen.
shame you let something like money come between you and God! Leaving your faith over such an issue is very small minded. Wouldn't it have been easier to just make donations to the causes you support and forget about the ones you don't support. seem's to me to just be an easy excuse for bashing my church! At least you can say no to the church, trying saying no to washington! That's where the real thieves are!
