ReplyDeleteMoms are irreplaceable, but I know that she can rest in peace knowing that she has raised one fine son who has made a change in so many lives. May the lord rest her soul and peace be with you Joe.
ReplyDeleteJoe,
ReplyDeleteWhen my husbands parents passed away, we took comfort in this "poem" by Henry Van Dyke - I hope you find comfort in it as well.
"I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!”
“Gone where?”
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear the load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!” There are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: “Here she comes!”
And that is dying."
Take care, Joe.

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your loss. My prayers and thouights are with you.

ReplyDeleteJoe,
ReplyDeleteSorry for your loss!
Hey Joe,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that your mom is gone, I know that you will miss her terribly. Just remember that she will always live on in your heart and as long as you live by her example and words of wisdom, she will never die. She is up in heaven with my mom now and I know that mom will take good care of her. The tears are going to fall and let them, but remember the good times and all of the wonderful memories that you shared. Remember the times when you laughed together and it will ease the pain a lot. Steve & I are there for you, just call!
Joe,
ReplyDeleteThis poem by Helene Stallcup has always brought me comfort, I hope it eases your pain in some way.
"Afterwards"
Eventually, the grief will fade,
the stabbing pain will ease,
for life will go on as it must
and God will give you peace.
Though joy will never be so full
and grief is never whole,
a deeper, fuller, kinder life,
will stretch the human soul.
Joe

ReplyDeleteYou have a nice looking family, Joe. May peace be with you in time of your grief, and know that your mother is now at rest, and the pain is gone.
ReplyDeleteJoe, So sorry to hear of your loss. It is never easy but something that most of us have to contend with during our lifetime, the loss of loved ones. I think she knew she was loved and that is important.
ReplyDeleteMISS ME BUT LET ME GO
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no tears in a gloom-filled room,
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little – But not for long
And not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me – But let me go.
For this is a journey we all must take,
And each must go alone,
It’s all a part of the Master’s plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to your friends that we know,
And bury your sorrows in doing good works,
Miss me – But let me go.

ReplyDeleteJoe, I am sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. As someone who has lost a parent at a young age, all I can think about are the great times we had, thinking how sad it is that my dad was never able to see me get married and have kids. All I have are memories and the hope that we will meet again in heaven. At least I still have my mom. I wish my best for you and you family.
