  3. I was at Sports At the Beach today and this boy was supposed to join his team in the tournament. It was very sad to see his teammates lined up in for a moment of silence.....

  4. Very sad for the surviving daughter and the extended family. Hopefully she will be supported by close family and will be able to live a life honoring her family.

A very stark reminder of why we all need to really pay attention to the roads, accidents happen in the blink of an eye.

  10. For the perosn wondering why he failed to stop at the stop sign, it is a bad area where you can't always see the sign. There was another accident a few weeks ago. Do you really think he did it on purpose?!?

  11. I dont think he did it on purpose. But i think people dont pay as of much attention as they should when driving though. But then again, thats me. I like to be aware and defensive of my surroundings.

  12. The road they were on splits just before it hits 113. ONLY the right turn lane had a stop sign; not the straight lane that crosses over 113. There had been one there before, but it was removed. Very shortly after this accident, they put the stop sign back up (on what would have been the son's 13th birthday) So sad that these people had to lose thier lives to get that sign put back up.

  13. Here's a view of the intersection:

    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=daisey+st.+and+dupont+blvd,+frankford,+de&sll=38.512042,-75.232015&sspn=0.012358,0.029526&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Dupont+Blvd+&ll=38.517612,-75.239431&spn=0.000772,0.001845&t=h&z=19&layer=c&cbll=38.517617,-75.239526&panoid=26jCSLV8PpaWij1dD4DXYQ&cbp=12,269.3,,0,11.97

As you can see, it looks like the stop sign only applies to the right turn lane. If you're going straight, it would be VERY easy to miss it or assume it is only for people turning right. It seems like this could have been avoided with better traffic design.

and by the way, it was found out that there was NO STOP SIGN there. it had been removed due to construction or something. just to let you all know...
