Clean Up At The Port Of Salisbury???

Joe,

I just watched a group of people with red shirts with some type of logo on the front and volunteer on the back show up to the marina, watched them clean up for about 5 minutes tops, get their picture taken, and they all left. Do you know what the photo-op was about?

  1. Hi Joe - I just wanted to let you know what that "photo op" was all about at the Port of Salisbury. First of all, we were there for more than an hour picking up trash, cigarette butts, broken beer bottle glass, things that no one else seems to be concerned about. Second, "We" are employees at Coca-Cola Enterprises, 2221 Armstrong Pkwy., Salisbury. We, as a company, are participating in a world wide CRS (Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability) week. We had roughly 20 volunteers take time out of our work day to go down there to try to make the city we work and live in look a little better. And yes we did have our picture taken, and the Mayor did come and say thank you, and we were there another 30 minutes or so after the "photo op". So maybe instead of someone jumping on here to find out what the "photo op" which wasn't the case at all, was all about, why didn't they just come on over and talk to us, maybe even help us out. It is everyone's city you know.

  2. Thank You Charity and Thank You Coca-Cola Enterprises!

Salisbury News would have been honored to be invited to this event and yes, I would have personally helped in the clean up, as well as many of our readers.

My hat is tipped to ALL of you. Do not hesitate to contact us in the future for any and all future events like this and we'll be there to help any way we can.

  3. Sir I agree that everyone should do volunteer work and should help out. Maybe post it Joe's site a day or two ahead of time and see what other businesses come out. There are a lot of other companies that do contribute to the environment with Perdue being one of them. Every year they go out for and entire day and clean up the area ponds. They have truck loads of debris by the time they are done. I still do agree if you only can give an hour it is better then not doing anything at all.

  5. Perdue should hose down "A" dock. It is covered in chicken parts and bird droppings. Heaven forbid we have somebody request a transient slip.
