Incident: Assault
Date of Incident: 14 September 2009
Location: 23000 block of Ocean Gateway, Mardela Springs, MD
Suspect: Male juvenile, 16, Mardela Springs, MD
Narrative: On 14 September 2009 at 5:25 PM, a deputy responded to a residential youth facility located in the 23000 block of Mardela Springs for a reported assault. Upon arrival, the deputy met with a counselor at the facility who advised that he had been assaulted by a 16 YOA resident. The counselor advised that the juvenile began acting defiantly, called the counselor names and then charged at the counselor, striking him in the chest. The deputy located the juvenile, still at the facility and prepared a juvenile referral charging document.
The juvenile referral will be sent to the Department of Juvenile Services. The juvenile was released to the facility staff pending formal court action by the Department of Juvenile Services.

Incident: Assault on a Deputy / Resisting Arrest
Date of Incident: 14 September 2009
Location: 400 block of Oriole Place, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Reginald Lamont Collins, 42, Salisbury, MD
Narrative: On 14 September 2009 at 7:52 PM, deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office went to a residence in the 400 block of Oriole Place in search of a wanted subject, Reginald Collins, known to live there. Upon knocking on the rear door, Collins answered and stepped outside to speak with the deputy. Upon being notified of the active arrest warrant, Collins became enraged and went back inside his residence. The deputies followed with the intention of taking Collins into custody. Instead Collins argued with the deputies, declaring that they had the wrong person and that he was not going to go with them. When the deputies attempted to take Collins into custody, he began struggling with the deputies and attempted to pull away. While attempting to get away from the deputies, Collins assaulted one of them by striking the deputy in the arm several times with his elbow.
The deputies managed to get physical control of Collins and placed into handcuffs. Collins was transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed on both the warrant and the charges stemming from this incident. After an initial appearance, Collins was detained on $10,000.00 bond in the Detention Center,
Collins was also held on $500.00 bond for the warrant, a Circuit Court Child Support Non Compliance Bench Warrant.

Resisting Arrest
Incident: Possession of Marijuana
Date of Incident: 14 September 2009
Location: Johnson Road, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Nicholas R. Thomas, 19, Salisbury, MD
Narrative: On 14 September 2009 at 11:02 PM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle operated by Nicholas Thomas for speeding on Johnson Road in Salisbury. Upon making contact with Thomas, the deputy clearly detected the odor of marijuana emanating from within the passenger compartment of Thomas’ vehicle. The deputy had Thomas exit the vehicle and upon questioning, Thomas admitted to having a bag of marijuana in his pocket.
The deputy placed Thomas under arrest and transported Thomas to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, Thomas was released by the Commissioner on Personal Recognizance.
Charges: Possession of Marijuana
