Obama To Prey On Young People/Libs Like Cents & Chuck
Young adults key to financing health reform
With mandatory coverage, group could effectively subsidize their parents
As health-care legislation advances through Congress, the young adults who were so vital to President Obama's election are emerging as a significant beneficiary of his top domestic priority, but they are also likely to play a major role in funding any reform.
In a campaign-style rally Thursday at the University of Maryland at College Park, Obama will aim to tap his richest vein of support -- voters younger than 30 -- to help sell his reform plan to a more skeptical general public. "We're at an important turning point in our push for real reform," read the e-mailed invitation, "and it's critical that we seize this moment."
A 2008 study by the Urban Institute found that more than 10 million young adults ages 19 to 26 lack health insurance coverage. For many of those people, health-care reform would offer the promise of relatively inexpensive individual policies, which do not exist in many states today.

you sad that the pres isnt courting you?
ReplyDeleteNah, I'd just tell him to pull my finger and wait a second or two. Then he'd know how I felt about his plan, it stinks.
ReplyDeleteI would hope that young people are smart enough to realize that free health care isn't free - someone has to pay. If the gov't runs health care everyone will have to pay more. That's the joke. It's not about health care reform - it's about government control over every aspect of your life. We have Medicaid for poor, Medicare for over 65, SCHIP for children up to age 30 with families of income up to $65K. Then there are State programs, county programs and drug company help for prescriptions. We need true reform not more mandates.
ReplyDeleteIf this "reform" is SOOOOO critical, SOOOO necessary to the people why don't any of the CHANGES take place until 2013? Could it be that Obama wants to get re-elected before our nation is destroyed? What is the hurry inpassing this if it doesn't take effect until 2013?
ReplyDeleteThey will make it illegal to be without health insurance.
ReplyDeleteThis is a big boon for the insurance companies.
They tried to convince us they were not friendly with the insurance industry, but now we see their true colors. Force everyone to buy a product. That's what I call being friendly with the insurance industry!
This is what it was about all the time. They knew where it was heading. They threw us a curve ball so we could get worked up about "public option". They will throw public option out now, in favor of the real issue:
ReplyDeleteMandatory Health Insurance.
Chuck and Cents are hypocrites. They have been deleting comments like madmen. They don't want other views on their site. Ignorant cowards.
ReplyDelete8:57 I, as a liberal, happen to know that this blog doesn't allow many comments that don't support its views as many of mine haven't been posted. This isn't because they were vulgar in anyway, they just didn't support the author's viewpoint.
ReplyDeleteThat's because we refuse to publish lies. Fake links to articles that aren't even on topic. Tricks to fool others into believing your side of the story is right and ours is wrong.
ReplyDeleteHey guys the point here is mandatory health insurance.
ReplyDeleteThis is a form of slavery. We can choose which company to buy from, but they don't really compete with each other.
This is a tax.
We are serving the government. Actually we are serving the corporations who control the government. The corporations use the government's guns to force us to give up our money.
Most of us would no longer pay income taxes because of all of this corruption. However, the IRS has guns. So we pay.
Now, they will put a gun to our head and force us to allow them to "take care of us when we get sick".
This would be hilarious if it weren't so cruel.
Young people don't participate in health insurance because they don't need it. Now we will force them to buy something they don't need.
10:14 A form of slavery? Give me a break. Your comment is insulting to those who are decendants of or were actual slaves themselves. Think about how dumb what your saying is before you say it...
ReplyDeleteSomebody has to pay for this forced 'insurance' scandal.
ReplyDeleteIt must be defeated.
Joe, I had a good comment from a young person's perspective. I see rational thought isn't given any play today
ReplyDeleteCorrection to the earlier comment-in Maryland the income cutoff is much lower for SCHIP-for a family of three, once you hit 36k,you are making "too much" money.
ReplyDeletethat is the plan...
ReplyDeleteHey guys the point here is mandatory health insurance.
ReplyDeleteThat's why single-payer was, and still is, the only way to go. Insurance companies should go the way of the dinosaur.
