Can WBOC Predict Bike Week?

With Severe Weather Alerts popping up all over WBOC, will Dennis HELP Bike Week with such scare tactics, or will many stay away from the Eastern Shore in fear of spending the weekend under a highway overpass to avoid all the severe flooding?
Inquiring minds want to know Dennis?

  1. Good point Joe. I know if I was considering coming here from out of town I would search the weather to see what was ahead of me. If I saw a severe weateher alert I wouldn't even consider making the trip. If they aren't accurate, and they're usually not, I'd stay at home not knowing their reputation and track record. This is a big money maker for the county and wboc is killing this event.

  3. They've killed many local events with their weather "predictions".
Just focus on what is REAL will ya WBOC?

  4. If they are coming from out of the area they will most like use weather.com and not wboc.

  5. Are you suggesting the news be censored? That make alot of sense.

  6. anonymous 9:45, seriously, do YOU see severe flooding ANYWHERE on the Eastern Shore right now? NO!

I could see if a hurricane was headed this way, throwing off a severe weather alert. Do YOU see a hurricane coming?

Don't feed me that censorship BS.

  7. Hmmm...it does seem as though they could be trying to sabotage Bike Week? That's sure not going to help our local economy.

  8. If the National Weather Center has issued an alert for our area, how in the world can any responsible weather person not report it? Usually I think they often slant the forecast to get/or keep people at the beach. Calling heavy overcast partly sunny etc. But, there is no way to over look a National Weather Center alert. They could however be less sensational about, and give more coverage to the actual probabilities for the severe weather occurring.

  9. anonymous 9:49, like I said earlier, do YOU see a tornado heading our way? Someone commented earlier that they too have seen these severe weather alerts for the past couple of weeks and NOTHING ever happened. They, (WBOC) need to start acting more responsible. If the national weather service suggests, oh, 7 out of the last 14 days severe flooding, shouldn't the LOCAL professionals get on their website and say, but we don't expect to be his as hard as the national people say we will.

Oh, that's right, they can always do like the Daily Times does and blame their mistakes on someone else, I forgot.

  12. You know what happened to the boy who cried wolf! If they keep telling us this crap and nothing happens, we will not believe them if something really does come

  13. The National Weather Service is only calling for minor coastal flooding in Worcester and Sussex counties; WBOC is making a big deal about nothing, acting as if the Eastern Shore is going to get hit by major flooding when that isn't going to happen.

  14. It says "Coastal Flood Advisory for Worcester County and Sussex County." It doesn't say anything about any tornadoes. And, if I remember correctly, Salisbury is in neither.

  18. NOt that I am taking up for this moron, Dennis what ever his name is, but seeing a tornado might be a little late for a warning.

  19. Is it me, or can no one get the weather report correct around here? The Weather Channel, NWS, WBOC, WMDT... they are all wrong, all of the time.

  20. When dennis first came to wboc I remember him saying that tomorrow will be a wash out day. It was for a saturday and the pork in the park event..we had sunshine and no rain....

  21. If you have weather channel its a little better than the others.

  22. Come on people. Seriously? Do all of you put that much faith in the weather report no matter where it comes from? You don't have to be an old coot to know weather is always changing and they can only predict on the percentages of what the models tell them. Sure we have much better technology today but it is what it is...weather! It doesn't take a brain surgeon to pull up the radar on your computer or look on the tv to see when and where the rain is coming or not coming. Be your own weatherman for cripes sake. And no, I'm not a weatherman or a friend of Uncle Dennis. We all get upset when the weather turns out to be the opposite of what we were told but the only person who controls the weather report is mother nature.

On another horrible forecast note. Does anyone remember a few winters ago when ole Bob Burnettt said on the 11pm news that we were going to be waking up and getting 12 inches of snow the next day? I woke up to sunny skies the next day. Apparently the storm took a little detour. Guess Mother Nature had better things to do that day.

  23. The bikers will come rain or shine!

  24. There has been a trend over the past decade of sensationalizing weather reporting...creating unneccessary drama...I'm sure you've seen the histrionics on the Weather Channel when a tropical storm, hurricane or blizzard is approaching....bottom line is, that kind of weather "drama" apparently sells and gets people to watch.WBOC is just following the crowd.

The out of town bikers will get their beach forecast on thier local station..be it Baltimore,DC,PHilly where ever... local riders wil get up, take a look at the sky and decide to ride :-)..so fear not!

  25. They slay me when they say theres a 30% chance ofd rain.Hell they dont mention theres a 70% that its not gonna rain. Theres only been one good forcaster ON WBOC and young siedel moved on to bigger and better things.

  26. rain only holds home them sissy fair weather bikers. the real bikers are the ones making it happen, and they will be there like 3:24 said, rain or shine.

  27. How bought we not worry about the weather as much and do a little reporting on actual crime that has occurred here. Every time I turn on WBOC they are reporting on something in Wilmington, doing live shots of other larger cities or just reporting general BS. I know they have to keep the lie(about how great the eastern shore is) going but reporting the weather every 5 mins seems a bit repetitive. Not to mention when they say the same exact things at every broadcast. Typical backwards eastern shore.
