(Salisbury, MD) The Salisbury Advisory Council on Youth Activities (SACYA) will host a banquet on Sunday, August 16th at the American Legion #145. Special guest Billy Gene Jackson, Sr. will speak at the banquet, which is themed “Back Down Memory Lane—from North Lake Park to Billy Gene Jackson, Sr. Park”.
The community is invited to join Jackson, as well as House Delegate Rudolph Cane, members of the Salisbury and Wicomico County Council, Wicomico Recreation, Parks and Tourism, present members of the SACYA as well as Salisbury’s hometown boxing star Fernando Guerrero for this special event. Seats are still available and can be purchased until Saturday, August 15 for $25. Please contact SACYA Secretary/Coordinator Roxie P. Connelly at 410-603-5422 to reserve your space.
The SACYA was founded by Billy Gene Jackson, Sr. In recognition of Jackson’s contribution to the community, in June 2003 Wicomico County named Billy Gene Jackson, Sr. Park in his honor. In doing so, the County hoped to seal Jackson’s living legacy in the hearts and minds of the community. The SACYA continues to function today, but can only do so with the support of the community.
