Frustrated with the pace of bipartisan talks, Democratic leaders promise to push a sweeping health care bill through the Senate whether they get Republican support or not.
'We will have contingencies in place,' says New York Sen. Schumer
WASHINGTON - Frustrated with the pace of bipartisan talks, Democratic leaders on Monday promised to push a sweeping health care bill through the Senate whether they get Republican support or not.
Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., the third-ranking Senate Democrat, raised the prospect of the leadership crafting a bill to Democratic specifications and using a rare legislative procedure to expedite legislation fulfilling President Barack Obama's top domestic priority.
"We will have contingencies in place. These plans will likely be considered as a last resort, but they are on the table," Schumer told reporters on a conference call. He declined to elaborate.

The Democrats do not need Republican support. The Republicans do not have enough votes to stop anything. This is a democrat bill, pure and simple. The reason it has not passed, is because of the uproar of the people of this country. The American people are voicing their opposition to this kind of reform.
ReplyDeleteNo the blue dogs had to work their little deals out first.
ReplyDeleteNo Chris. It's because the insurance companies paid $1.4 Million a day to lobby Congress to keep them from hurting their profits. Do you pay premiums for health care? Then you helped lobby Congress to protect insurance company profits over the health of middle class Americans. Remember that next time your claim gets denied or your coverage gets dropped.
ReplyDeleteThere will be one stupid a$$ republican that will vote for it, and thenb the Dumbocrats will claim it's bipartisan.
ReplyDeleteI have to side with Chris on this one. We need to give ourselves credit and not give up the fight. There will be many articles printed between now and when congress goes back to session, mostly by the MSM who are bought and sold by politicians. Their messages will try to discourage any flack from we who hold to common sense and freedom. Stay the course, and write back. Let's see how many new ways we can suggest that this thing should go. I've written mine; Joe posted it around 10 this morning. Send your ideas to Frank. By the end of the month, Frank should have a good idea what to go back to the fight with.

ReplyDeleteinsurance premiums would be cheaper if not for state and federal mandates!
5:27, I certainly hope my insurance company makes a profit. That way they can be there for me when I need them. The same way I want my company to make a profit so I am sure that I can be there for my customers in the future.
ReplyDeleteWould you rather the government reroute the profits they make to their pet programs and deny benefits to your Aunt Suzie?
Dorkhead....
This is first and foremost a bill to force everyone in this country to purchase health insurance. Pelosi is a prime example of a corrupt to the bone Democrat villifying the Insurance companies while takieng millions from them. The Insurance companies and politicians are the ones that will get rich rich rich while the poor average taxpayer will pay pay pay.
ReplyDeleteWhy not force everyone to have health insurance so we can stop paying for the deadbeats who use the system and don't pay.
ReplyDeleteanonymous 6:27, is that the democratic tone now. Another EXCUSE as to why every single American should pay.
ReplyDeleteMakes me sich to my stomach, actually.
I should add to ALL you democrats, there used to be a place called America. You know, the place where IF you worked hard you would be rewarded with the best of everything.
ReplyDeleteBecause you refuse, (the majority of you anyway) to work hard, why not make every one else pay your way. You know, make it even steven.
This is NO LONGER the America I grew up in and believed in. Just a bunch of pussies mooching off of every one elses hard work.
You are the voice of the people Joe. I don't want to go back to a time when the Constitution itself prevented us from obtaining true liberty and freedom. People in charge need to grab the bull and tell us exctly how we should submissively behave in order for America to be proud again. I, for one am perplexed and frightened to even think for myself, let alone vote!!
ReplyDeleteAs we watch this 'health care' fraud unfolding, it might be interesting to hear what your buddy Andy has to say on this subject, Joe.
ReplyDeleteEspecially if he's planning another run in 2010.. where does he stand on this? What are his suggested solutions?
Rights need to go back to the states not the Feds. Less government leads to more individual prosperity! Dont forget that. As a registered Dem who has for the most part voted party lines I now see the error of my ways..Get a conservative voice to rep the shore we are way out numbered by Liberal Dems everywhere! Start locally get rid of Kratovil!
ReplyDelete8:52, Andy is wholly against this per an email he sent me. I was curious, too, so I emailed him. I got his answer the very next morning!
ReplyDeleteSo what is the conservative answer? Let me guess lower taxes. That is always the answer no matter the question.

ReplyDeleteWell there is one thing we know for sure:
ReplyDeleteOur Congress and President are going to do what is right for the American people. They are going to "go after" those big corporations who make health care expensive. They are going to stick it to the insurance companies, the AMA, the big corporations who own the hospitals, and big Pharma. They are looking out for us little guys.
There is no way the big powerful rich corporations are going to get their way!
Our government is taking care of us. Our Congress is tired of these big corporations giving them all that money and trying to buy influence. They aren't going to allow it any longer.
Yadda Yadda Yadda
The only thing we can know for sure is that the corporations will "have it their way", while the rest of us flip the burgers.
