BUCHANAN TO OBAMA

By Patrick J. Buchanan

Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America . Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to.. This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:

First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known. Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.

Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ' 60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks -- with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas -- to advance black applicants over white applicants. Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.

We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude???

Barack talks about new 'ladders of opportunity' for blacks. Let him go to Altoona ? And Johnstown , and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for 'deserving' white kids.? Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America? Is it really white America's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?

Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?

As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?

Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?

We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena . And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.

Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago.
We are a Christian Nation even if Mr. Obama says we are not.
This needs to be passed around because, this is a message everyone needs to hear!!!

The truth hurts, especially when it comes from a Republican.

  3. I've heard this rant before and it wasn't directed to President Obama. Pat Buchanan even refers to a Mr. Wright in the second paragraph.

  6. If anyone should know a racist, it is Mr Buchanan. He has beenone all his life. Here is a few more ensightful drivlings from one of America'a most classlist and tiring acts.

Of course, most readers here would agree with his moronic prose.

  7. This letter from Buchanan needs to be posted in a way that all of us can send, fax. email, etc. this to every single person each of us knows. Yes, it's that important.

Take, take, take and personally I'm tired of giving handouts to people who never stop begging for more. It's a shame some so-called intelligent people are so afraid to face the truth. As a half-white, half Cherokee Indian male I think I have every right to say WE are giving OUR country away! We ALLOW others to come here and live within OUR rules and laws. If they don't like the way WE want things done they're free to leave...today.

Before you bleeding heart, gutless liberals say a word please tell me why minorities like your dear obama can spend 20+ years in a church which teaches them how to hate you be accepted by you?? Do you care at all about your children and grandchildren who are going to suffer because of your gutlessness? Sure seems like you don't to the rest of us.

I'll be waiting for your explanation of why a black man who's been trained to be a racist should be looked up to. I know that's an answer which will never come though, all we'll hear is whining about we are all one in this country which will only prove how out of touch you really are!! Must be sad to be you.

  8. You call this a "Christian" nation yet you cannot abide by your own belief system. I don't think that Jesus would agree with you.

  9. i wonder if its possible for anyone to show me one place on this earth and especially this great country of ours where it has been a benefit and places and communities have prospered from black people living there?... ive tried to think of some and i cant... and i have lived all over the world.

  10. Yeah white people have it so bad. Which of you would trade place with a black man today? Didn't think so...

  11. I could give you a thousand reasons why I wouldn't trade places with a black man but it's definitely not because you have it rough, believe me.

I've noticed a consistent theme on here. Every single time someone challenges the libs to say something good about Obama or to prove he's not racist...they stop writing. That should tell you something right there!

  12. White people are complaining about how bad it is to be "white"-they're complaining about the one-sided race relations and guilt trips everyone thinks they should be on. Get a grip, there is no better place in the world to be black than in America-you can be anything if you work hard enough. If you have talent-musical, athletic, or whatever, you will be recognized and well paid if not put on a pedestal. Think Tiger Woods, Bill Cosby, Michael Jordan, just don't be a Republican or a Conservative, then you're trying to be white like Justice Clarence Thomas or GOP head- Michael Steele. There's a double standard if you're white you can't talk about race, if you're black you can complain, talk, and shut people up by just mentioning race.

  13. 4:52, now if that wasn't the most rambling, nonsense riddled, non-making sense post I've ever read.

Can't even decipher what you were trying to say except the part about being bad to be white. It's GREAT to be white, just want others to earn what they get and not have it handed to them.

Biggest difference between the races? White baby's first word is usually 'da-da', black babies first words are 'they did it cause I'm black, waaahh!!'

  14. Reverse discrimination is alive and well in Wicomico county. My (white) son applied for a job with the county. He had the education and experienced call for the job description. Went for the personal interview and was told he was the most qualified person who applied for the job. Received a phone call a few days later only to be told he did not get the job because it had to be given to a black man who did not have the experience or education because the county had a hiring quota to meet for minorities. I believe in equality for everyone, no matter the race, religion or etc. I don't believe in hand outs for sitting on your duff and crying poor me.

  15. What black man would trade places with a white man born dirt poor in Eastern Europe. A black man in Africa.

What Black Woman would trade places with a Muslim Woman in a Muslim country.

Very few Americans would trade places with anyone in a third world country.

We can not choose our birth parents.

Clarance Thomas is very happy with his skin color and is the most powerful man in American Justice.

    Color should never never matter.

I am white and would gladly switch places with one of Clarance Thomas' children were it possible. He us one fantastic role model.

  16. 4:52 here, I forgot to put a "not" in my first sentence. As in, White people are not complaining about being white-I'm sure it makes sense now.
