ReplyDeleteWithout this stuff, the fire equipment would be unusable.
ReplyDeleteIs that $35,000 for each of the fire engines?
ReplyDelete3 year old mirrors replaced with polished aluminum west coast heated mirrorsis is a must. why dont you city tax payers understand. yes the firehouse is heated but its only 2389.00 yes the mirrors on the truck are ok but heated mirrors for only 2389.00
ReplyDeleteWell what else Salisbury???? I am a county employee who is not getting a pay raise and i work at the most corrupt place, WCDC....Sure am glad i moved out of Salisbury...

Really? You're serious? Please prove it to the tax payers?
These fire engines are only 3 years old and they were unusable? WTF!!
Mayor Ireton why did you allow this to happen? This is a years salary for some employee that is desperately needed.
It all sounds reasonable to me. These items are to be paid for by the VFD corporations, which the mayor has no control over. You just love attacking the SFD, Joe.
ReplyDeleteThis and similar BS will soon result in reduction of the stipend that they get each year from Wicomico County because so much of that money is wasted.

It sounds reasonable to you? You are obviously not a tax payer and an irresponsible citizen!
The Volunteer corporations are going to pay for it? Where are they getting the money from? TAXPAYERS!
The mayor has no control over it? How wrong you are.
Joe is not attacking the SFD he is just opening our eyes to your corruption and I thank him from the bottom of my heart. Now if only I could feel the same way about Mayor Ireton. Mr. Ireton will you please do what we elected you to do.
Its just more of the same, addictted to spending. (Other peoples money). If Jim isnt responsible for this then who is?
ReplyDelete10:12,
ReplyDeleteGo to Webster's and look up "sarcasm".
And no, I don't mean go to the SPD or the 3rd floor of the GOB.

I have heated electric, stainless steel mirrors on my truck and they only cost $500 including stainless steel brackets. Oh, my truck is a 2001 Peterbilt with almost a million miles on it. It's still going strong, works everyday.
ReplyDeleteGordy,Hoppes and some other dreamers need to be removed immediately. The next Fire Chief should have an EXTENSIVE back ground check done on their abilities. The SFD has spent enough money in the last to build, equip, and man 4 new fire houses in the3 areas needed by the people of their servicing area. Salisbury has made all the surronding fire comnpanies mad and should be forced to uitilize their resources when needed. The waste and circus has got to stop. The volunteers are needed and should be given the respect they deserve.Let's hope the critizium here can become more costructive and beneficial.

The VFD's are all independant corporations with independant budgets and bank accounts. The mayor cannot dictate what they spend money on. Do the mayors of Delmar or Pittsville dictate how those VFD's spend their money? I think not!
ReplyDeleteIt's not that anyone's asking a mayor to do anything, is it? This is to expose how the farmin spend the money you gave them to protect our lives.
ReplyDeleteNow we know how much to give next time they hold out the farmin's boot for a donation.
$3k to put their web address on the truck? Gardner signs would do it for $300 and we could keep our money local!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to add in the fuel, per diem, and lodging for the people who drive it up there.

1:39 PM
Delmar and Pittsville doesn't have mayors, DUH!
And the Delmar Fire Department and Pittsville Fire Department is totally separate and independent of the municipalities where the Salisbury Fire Department is not. Educate yourself before you open your mouth.
Dear 2:01 PM,
ReplyDeleteMr. Bill Gordy is telling everyone they are saving a whopping $400 to have the work done in Wisconsin instead of local. WOW! that man really knows how to save us dumb taxpayers how to save money. Thank you Gordo and Bubba.
11:17 AM thanks for the explanation, it is hard to detect sarcasm by reading the words.
ReplyDeleteThis is another example of Gordo spending every dime he gets his hands on. No other fire department refurbs an engine thats three years old. Salisbury is spoiled and they are fed up with Mr. Gordy's crap. This should not be allowed to happen, but here it goes. He intimidated and threatened the volunteers to get this work done. They initially voted not to do it and he came after them. What a joke the SFD has become.
ReplyDeleteGrave Digger please give us more details about Gordo going after you all. Please tell us about the threats and intimidation.
ReplyDeleteif they spend all that money i sure hope it can win a trophy in a parade somewhere,,,otherwise it would just have been a waste of money.....
ReplyDelete....now thats sarcasm......
There is an agreement that the volunteer corporations had to sign with the city of Salisbury that stipulates no money can be spent by the volunteers without the chiefs approval. Therefore hmmm one chief, one budget, does that mean one deptartment? That should mean one county appropriation right?
ReplyDeleteOne example of the threats and intimiidation came over this retirement party for See. Gordo asked for the $1600 and the floor didnt want to do it. We asked what has See done for us. Gordo rattled off all his money figures to us and said if we didnt contribute we would regret it. Now what do you call that. Only two members from our ststion went. When we didnt want to help buy this new quint he threatened to take our losap and give us Station 2 used junk. We're tired of it and we want our tanker.
ReplyDeletekeep coming grave digger
ReplyDeleteGrave Digger keep giving us the goods. We definitely need to hear these things about your fearless leader.
ReplyDeleteWho were the two suck ups, I mean members from your station that went to Sea's retirement party.
FYI- Delmar has two mayors!
ReplyDeleteCan anyone give a report on how man Salisbury people went to Sees party, number of vollies and number of career?
ReplyDeletesalisbury is spoiled..new house, new trucks.. update'n the "old" one's(3 years old).. go to a real working firehouse and check out their equipment.. something like nyc or balt.. they would love to have the equipment that our fire dept gets rid of.. much less the stuff they are replacing it with..

9:35 PM
Why is that important? Other than you being nosy. Why do you care?
9:35 pm that is a good question I would love to see the numbers of all people and their association who attended.
ReplyDeleteThose who attended were Walson, Jones and wife, Walbert, Scott, Gaskins, Bragg, M. Brown, Ireton.
ReplyDeleteYou know Gordy, B. Adkins and Keenan were there.

Looks like some real ass kissers in attendance to me!!!
Eventually, the people of Salisbury will tire of Gordo. When they do, he will become bankrupt.
ReplyDeleteThat will be that.
The people have the power to destroy the man's income. He should think about that for a minute.
I am surprised the people haven't already used the power they have to get this thing done. Be rid of him.
Bankrupsy is not far off. Gordy and See spent every penny they could get thier hands on.
ReplyDelete4:08
ReplyDeleteHear here.
It would be easy to get rid of Gordo once everyone realizes it must be done. Power to the people. Power in the wallet. Power not in Gordo's cash register.
This is going to be fun.
Why do you have to attack the man's business? He believes in spending big money and doing things right. You disagree? OK. But you don't need to attack the man's business.
ReplyDeleteIf you feel strongly, then, campaign to have him ousted as Deputy Chief. But, don't attack.
Sometimes rich people lose perspective of how much money they are spending. He has a good heart. He is trying to do the right thing for the city.
