Robbery Suspect Caught In The Act
Suspect(s): Kristin Kemplem, 24, of the 600 block of Stanton Road in Newark, Delaware
Resume: Kristin Kemplem, 24, of Newark, was arrested today during the commission of a robbery she was committing at the Happy Harry’s on McKennans Church Road.
At about 12:30 p.m., the State Police dispatch center in New Castle County, RECOM, received a call from inside the Happy Harry’s during which caller advised a robbery was currently taking place. The caller advised the suspect was a white female who was holding the pharmacy staff at gunpoint. RECOM relayed this information to responding Troopers who arrived quickly on the scene.
Officers made entry into the business and confronted the suspect at the pharmacy counter. She was holding a black handgun. Troopers ordered her to drop the weapon and to surrender- the suspect eventually complied. She was identified as Kristin Kemplem.
Ms. Kemplem was transported from the scene to Troop 2 where she will be charged this evening with robbery. This case is still under investigation and an additional news release will be provided later tonight.
UPDATE:
Wilmington- Ms. Kristin Kemplem was formally charged this evening with two counts of Attempted Robbery 2nd (felony). She was committed to the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institute in lieu of $40,000.00 secured bond.
Additional information: During the robbery, Ms. Kemplem presented a demand note to the pharmacy clerk while displaying what later proved to be a replica handgun. She was attempting to obtain prescription narcotics. No one was injured in this incident.
