These things take time. Jim is getting settled in to a new job and a very daunting one at that. He does need to be more forthcoming on his plans including action steps.
*Put the budget on-line within weeks of taking office. He promised, he delivered.
*Started legal action against the people who designed and built a WWTP that doesn't work.
*Overseen the receipt of $5 million in federal grants. And with the budget online, you'll see where every penny goes.
*Led the effort to keep Urban Salisbury a viable entity and will unveil the Master Plan for Downtown today.
*Hosted a successful "Friday on the Plaza" event.
*Started budget negotiations to KEEP the 4 officers funded for 3 years with COPS funds past that initial period.
*Started talks with US Army Corps of Engineers on how to best work together to clean up the Wicomico River.
Has he fired Chief Webster yet or confiscated all the volunteer firefighter's trucks, as some of you seemingly want? No.
He was elected to change the way this city does business with its citizens and its own employees. And he'd one a great job of that as well. Just because he doesn't walk over to or call The Daily Times every afternoon to plant a story the way his predecessor did doesn't mean he's not working hard.
WOW....How fast the tide will turn on someone! He has to sort thru How much BS left from the former dictator..He has a bunch of power whielding goofballs, such as John Pick (who is/was looking to bail out of his job) Pam Olidne (she is a clueless person who is scared to death someone going to finally find out how much she doesnt do, but takes full credit for it) and Lore Chambers (I dont have the time to comment on that racist woman) A couple of council members that are clueless and at least two that would know polical or leagal procedure with the "Idiots guide to goverment" in hand with the "cliff notes" So...with all of that said how much time has to be spend on sorting out this mess of a place we call Salisbury? I will wait and see ....It takes along time to rebuild something, Some of the things that he is dealing with are very complex and need to be taken apart with a scaple not a bulldoser....and rebuild with care and consern......
He is doing a good job. He hasn't fired the chief of police which tells me he isn't going to let you or anyone else tell him what to do no matter how much you supported him during the election. To me this shows a sign of leadership. Give this man time. I truly believe he cares about the city of Salisbury.
I would really like to hear what you have been for past 100 days. I'm sure the Mare left you quite the mess to deal with; however, I would like an update on crime, budgets and what we are doing to move the city forward. I will not be able to attend, but maybe a weekly update with Joe might be an option. That way we know what's going on. I believe you are doing a good job, but we need to know what steps we are taking to help the City. Crime is obviously the #1 priority right now.
THANKS to anon 11:30 for pointing out the many accomplishments so far. I appreciate his hard work, and what he will continue to do to move us forward. We've come a long way in a short time, but there is SOOOOO far yet to go. I hope he has the fortitude. This is no small job.
At least he has taken a stand on the WWTP issue. Now he just has to work on the police/crime issue alittle more. Its great that he is getting funds for the plaza but theres still unsolved murders in the city, people.
I think he is doing just fine so far. He always responds to my emails and answers any questions that I have asked so far. Give him time people. These concerns need a little more than a few months to be resolved.
For those of you complaining, I'd love to see you do a better job. At least he has the b*lls to try, the rest of you would rather just sit and bitch, bitch, bitch!
That new tanker truck is actually a very large Fleets enema. When you see it hooked up to the GOB you will know Jim is finally cleaning the crap out of the city.
He has absolutely no one within his administration that is trustworthy. Three of his councilmembers report to JT. His chief of police feeds JT info. His DCVF feeds JT. They all feed Barrie Tilghman and her crew.
With that information I can only ask, how the hell can you expect anyone to get anything done when they are always swimming upstream?
BTW, Barrie Tilghman funded Urban Salisbury all along until she decided to give the city a break and leave office. Now they stand in the way of her CDC and serve her no purpose. I know Bruce Patterson and Alan Hope will not hesitate to put her in her place, as they are presently doing by pushing forward.
Right now he is stuck with Barrie's budget and her hand selected people. It will take a year at least to really start turning things around. Really two years until we vote out Gary and Louise, and then we will see changes. Shanie the sheep will follow the crowd.
Jim should have taken a big broom into the GOB on his first day and swept that place clean. Isn't that what everyone wanted? I could tell you about want but you wouldn't like it.
If Jim had pulled a Barrie and swept out all the bad people she put in there people in this town would be screaming like they were 12 years ago when she did it. The difference would be Jim would be sweeping out bad people. Barrie fired GOOD people and replaced them with her yes men and women. She never could tolerate anyone that stood up to her or didn't jump on command.
Jim will do what is right for the city, of this I am confident. We're all going to have to sit tight and help out when we can to make this a better place to live, work and play.
This crime ridden, nearly bankrupt, ghetto wasn't created overnight and it won't be straightened out overnight either.
Stop asking what Jim has done and ask Jim what you can do to help. After all, it is your city.
I have to agree with most of the post on what I think he's done. NOTHING but talk crap, I'm more than disappointed, I'm discussed. He should have done what he said and clean house. a fresh start is what we need. not the same sh__ another day.
If there is a photo op, he's there. Other than that, I don't see where he has any kind of broom in his hand to sweep out the same ol' same ol' and get some honest/transparent/hard-working folks in.
I think he is doing just fine so far. He always responds to my emails and answers any questions that I have asked so far. Give him time people. These concerns need a little more than a few months to be resolved.

Yeah right, I am still waiting for him to answer his door? I stopped by his house after he wouldn't return my calls or emails. He was home and his car was in the driveway. The screen door on his porch was locked from the inside so that makes him at home and not answering his door. Some representative he is.
That would be Bill Gordy the Volunteer Deputy Chief of the Salisbury Fire Department. He is in bed with Jonathan Taylor as well as is Rick Hoppes, Pat Davis, Jim Gladwell, Tri Townsend and a few others from the SFD.
Do you mean Mayor Liarton. Biggest disappointment since Louise Smith.
ReplyDeleteThese things take time. Jim is getting settled in to a new job and a very daunting one at that. He does need to be more forthcoming on his plans including action steps.
ReplyDeleteHe promised transparency!
He is working very hard and doing a great job.
ReplyDeleteGreat cheerleader, but no substance behind the words. Can we have a recall?
ReplyDeleteLet's see, what has he done?

Imagine that, 100 days and nothing to show for it.
ReplyDeleteI'd really like to have my vote back. He really has been a very big disappointment, so far.
ReplyDeleteI think hes a joke.

ReplyDeleteI wasn't anonymous. :)
Joe - This is the same guy you were hyping up right? BIG changes comin huh?
ReplyDeleteRemind me again how much money urban Salisbury was given.
ReplyDeleteI can't say he isn't doing anything but I would like to see some more physical and visual action taking place.
ReplyDeleteWhen does he start??????????????????
ReplyDeleteHelp is on the Way?
ReplyDeleteNot, typical democrat saying anything to get elected."I got mine now you get yours."
At least he has taken a stand on the WWTP issue. Now he just has to work on the police/crime issue alittle more. Its great that he is getting funds for the plaza but theres still unsolved murders in the city, people.

I'm sure that's not your name , if it is you need to change it.
You are still anonymous!
I know who Duck is. I can vouch for his name here.
ReplyDelete"I know who Duck is. I can vouch for his name here"
ReplyDeleteAnd I can vouch for Anon's! Either way... they are both hiding behind a fake name.
Anonymous Person...actually Duck is his LEGAL name. Jokes on you smart a$$ LOL

What has he accomplished for the average citizen?
ReplyDeleteThat's easy anonymous 2:50, MORE TAXES!!!!!
ReplyDeleteRight now he is stuck with Barrie's budget and her hand selected people. It will take a year at least to really start turning things around. Really two years until we vote out Gary and Louise, and then we will see changes. Shanie the sheep will follow the crowd.
ReplyDeleteMr Ireton has been available because school is out. Will he be so visible once school starts back up or will it be too stressful?

11:52 AM - No, I would never have voted for Comegys - I would have done what I started to do anyway - I would have stayed at home that day!!
ReplyDeletePaulie...
ReplyDeleteYes, as he will have a 1/2 time schedule for teaching. You'll find him at the GOB from 12-9 every workday this fall, I'd imagine.
