Mall Security Watches Over Line Into Theater

Going to the movies isn't what it used to be. Not in Salisbury anyway.

  2. I am missing your point.

But it IS true that fewer and fewer Salisbury parents are parenting at all - and as such, going to a movie or to grab a bite at the restaurant in the mall is no longer worth the hassle. The kids (not teens - even younger) are just wild, loud, rude, and unsupervised.

On the Eastern Shore, the only people actually paying attention to what kids are doing are teachers and security guards (and then eventually, the cops.)

Remember when PARENTS kept their kids in line?

Of course, that was back before selfishness took over America and parents started treating kids like an inconvenience that was cramping their style.

  3. I remember being "allowed" to walk a mile to the museum downtown for the Saturday morning free National Geographic movies if our chores were done and our rooms were clean. We would spend a lot of time exploring the pedestrian tunnels between the gov;t buildings, and occasionally found a maintenance tunnel filled with boilers and steam pipes and "keep out" signs!
Yes, I had the most horrible parents in the world, and I still have the privilege of loving them today as they flu from Springfield, Ill to see my daughter get married.
    9:25, get a life.

  6. It's the same issue that has always been it's the black kids. I'm starting to think segregation is the way to go.

  7. Since this is a movie post,I wanted to mention something that really ticked me off...
Did you know that in order to see a movie advertised as "3-D",you have to pay DOUBLE the regular ticket price? My husband found this out Friday when he expected to pay 6 bucks for matinee and learned that it was 2-D only and to see the 3D screenof the SAME movie he had to cough up almost 13 bucks.WTH?It seems like a minor thing but if you are taking a group of kids on an outing,it gets expensive.
So,they saw the 2D version and when the DVD is released we can watch it on 3D at home on the big screen. No $5 sodas,no sticky floors and no hoodlums.

And as to the racial makeup of the crowds,I just want to say there are just as many obnoxious profane white mallrats that annoy me as there are black or brown ones that annoy me.Not defending anyone just saying...

  8. It is not the White Kids, Black Kids, Asian, or even Mexican Kids. It is the product of the sperm doners who had them and never taught them right & wrong and don't care. I say any one who is the age of 10 and up be charged as an adult with any crime and to the age of 18 the parents should also be charged and serve the term with thier child. Then they will learn.

  9. Nothing will stop the fall, nothing. Its going to happen and we are all going to have to pick up the pieces. This isnt going to happen in a week or even a few years, its going to take thirty or fourty years to undo all this damage. Its a long climb back from "Rock-Bottom"...

  10. ENOUGH of the racist crap. I am rejecting ALL other comments that come in of the sort. DON'T even waste your time on it any more because you people are screwed up.

  11. This isn't meant to be racist but it is a plain fact. The black and Mexican gangs & thugs that city officials claim don't exist are 90%of the crime problem in Salisbury!

  12. Looks like there is a real riot going on in the photos. Better call in the sheriff to make a high profile arrest.

  13. it's not the kids it's the parents open up your dam eyes and see that! im tired of all these race remarks! who ever says that kind of stuff is just ignorant themselfs.

  14. At a closer look, I see no children in line for the movies. All are adults, waiting in line in an orderly fashion. And they're 90+% white. What are people seeing that I don't?

  15. If the movies aren't safe... then why do you want a Disney World here? Hmmmmmmm

  17. Every time I go to the movies in the evening (about twice a month) there are always Wicomico Deputies sitting out front watching the area-NEVER SALISBURY POLICE! The mall is INSIDE the City Limits; however, SPD is never there....go figure...where else are they not?

Way to go Mike Lewis-way to pick up Webster's slack! Lewis is a role model for all of law enforcement!

  18. I doubt seriously these cops are assigned to be there. Most are probably picking up extra cash and working off the clock. The lovely Mike Lewis has nothing to do with it, unless he is taking some of their cash

  19. The theater pays the Sheriff's office the deputies overtime rate.

Also, the Macerich Co. which owns the mall, also pays the city police overtime rate for two Police officers on Fri and Sat nights to handle all crimes inside the mall and parking lots.

The mall does not own the theater building. Regal entertainment just chooses to pay for deputies and city cops.
