Fernando Guerrero Fight Canceled
The camp of Fernando Guerrero (14-0 12kos )regrets to announce that a hand injury sustained in sparring will keep Fernando from fighting a 6 round bout scheduled for July 18th in Tunica MS, against Atwan Echols.(31-11 - 4 27kos) Fernando will continue to train but will not resume sparring until he is cleared by his doctors. The injury is expected to take a few weeks to improve enough to begin sparring again.
Although Fernando is disappointed with situation, he should be back on track for a scheduled bout in August. Injuries of this type are commonplace when training at such a high level.
Sincerely, Hal Chernoff
Funny to me the only news you see up here that features African Americans is either "who got locked up today?" or "look who's fighting tonight". You have alot of great work being conducted in the community by black folk from churches, the UMES and SU student body, and individuals in the community. How can we get our stories showcased on here?
ReplyDeleteWe have always attempted to reach out for a Contributor representing the Black Community. If you're interested, contact me at alberobutzo@wmconnect.com.
ReplyDeleteFernando is bringing Salisbury a lot of positive attention. OF COURSE HE GETS COVERAGE!
ReplyDeleteNot because he is black, but because he is extraordinarily talented and one of the nicest people you'll ever meet.
The black/white/brown/yellow/green and blue locals in our community should be rallying around him because he genuinely cares about his community. Big ups to Fernando, keep doing what you do.
the problem is that you keep trying to separate black from white hes an athelete that boxes if he was blue you would complain you are what keeps racism alive
ReplyDeleteJoe, thanks for the info.
ReplyDeleteSnap, my comment isn't a knock on Fernando; I'm always glad to hear people doing there thing in whatever forum and whatever race.
DNA, you remind me of Thomas Jefferson; help declare independence, then go home to make sure your slaves are workin hard. Simply pointing out an observation from a non-anglocentric point of view is not racist. Racism doesn't live in me, it lives with the minority of folks (white, black, or blue) who's actions are guided by hate and those who turn a blind eye to it.
