Think about this for a minute. According to the numbers produced earlier today, Congress had to know this program was going to fall nothing short of a LEADER.
Are they waiting for millions of Americans to come forward and complain that they missed out? The next thing you know, hundreds of thousands, (if not millions) of people will be raising the roof at Dealerships wanting their fair share of the package and Congress will come back with more money and say, see, we took care of you.
IMHO, this was a smart Used Car Salesman move on behalf of Congress and like suckers millions of Americans will be lining up at Dealerships trading in vehicles they (Auto Manufacturers) claim should LAST.
While I'm confident many Americans really could take advantage of this deal, many hundreds of thousands of people will go for it just because it seems to be a great deal from GM, (Government Motors).
In the end, why hasn't Congress simply come down on the Auto Makers forcing them to get rid of the larger vehicles that suck the life out of gas and their owners instead. Why do oil prices continue to drop, yet the price at the pumps seem to be overinflated? The big question many of you ask me is, why do gas prices go up so fast but when they come down it never reflects it at the pumps just as fast.
Because Congress allows it, that's why. They claim all these Industries are REGULATED. Pork, special interests, you name it, we're getting screwed on every single project our Government and Congress, (particularly) gets their hands on. Just how much more screwing can Americans take. Remember the Dot Com fallout? How about Y2K!!!!! Yeah, regulated! Hundreds of thousands of brand new companies, (Dot Com) folded. How many people were arrested for stealing from good, honest, taxpaying Americans! On January 1, 2000, how many computers went down, NONE! Yeah, regulated!
Get in line at your local Car Dealership and bend over some more people. Just bring some KY Jelly with you. Sadly it will be every hard working taxpayer that will fork up the billion plus dollars, (your money and mine) for every vehicle processed in their Clunker Package! Oh, that's right, Obama is going to make things all better, WITH OUR MONEY!
CHANGE is all we're going to have left. Keep printing that money Obama & Congress. In 5 years from now we'll be speaking Chinese.
I got my $4500 clunker cash because I acted early. At first, I couldn't decide whether to get a new Chevy truck made in Canada or a Toyota made in New Jersey. I chose to be patriotic and bought the Toyota.
ReplyDeletethe government couldn't run a legal ho'house in Nevada, sex; the easiest thing in the world to sell, how can we expect them to run a car company?
ReplyDeleteAnd lord help us if they get a hold of our health.
Well written post Joe.
ReplyDeleteImagine that - the price of cars for many americans went down by $4500 - between 20% - 40% discount - and lots of people took advantage of it!
ReplyDeleteIf the car dealers want to sell more cars, they just need to knock $4500 off the selling price and then they will be OK.
They allotted $1b for the cash for clunkers plan. They said they underestimated the price. What is going to happen with the $1t they have estimated for health? Does any really know how much that is really going to cost?

ReplyDeleteThat was really stupid. How would any car company stay afloat if they are selling cars and knocking off 4500 and there are not any rebates that high. Should they just lose thousands of dollars on each sale? Think about what you have just said. It makes no sense.
It's not stupid at all. They just need to make cheaper cars. And during the whole manufacturing and sales process, there is plenty of money being made. How do you think that thousands in dealer incentives can be offered? They are giving up a part of their profits to sell more cars!
ReplyDeleteThe lesson in all of this is that America wants more cheap, fuel efficient cars. Stop ramming 12 passenger SUVs with 72 month loans and 500/mo payments on us just because the manufacturer makes 10000 each time one sells. This is a big reason why auto manuf are hurting right now. They do not listen to the consumers.
