  2. good JMB sucks and is out of control, she even admits she can not handel the kids!

  3. WHY DONT THEY MOVE THE ADMINISTRATORS IN THE FRONT OFFICE???

    ReplyDelete
  4. JMB needs a new principal. She cannot handle the chaos in that school! It's scary there!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Parkside's Grudis to Bennett to shepherd them into the new school, then he retires after 2 years, Bennett's principal back to Mardela. Wonder who Parkside will get?

  6. Clean house at the top of the administration and save us lots of money. They retired years ago, they just show up as do many of the over the hill teachers. Not saying all are bad but those good ones know the ones I am speaking of.

  7. Batts from JMB going to Mardela, Micah Stauffer from Mardela to Parkside, and Grudis from Parkside to JMB for 2 years. Cathy Townsend returning to Wic. County to take Steve Brewer's job as Safe School Coordinator. More to come.....

  8. There are atleast 3 or 4 Elementary principal openings, which opens Asst. Principal spots. Plus the Director of Elementary Ed position is to be announced, which could create another opening to fill. There will be many new faces around next year. Retirements and people moving have created many openings. It is to be expected that Dr.Frederickson in his second year will make some changes and move people around to his liking.

Just heard that Scott Fowler is the new Principal at Prince Street School. The current principal is moving to the western shore. That now creates an opening for the Assistant Principal at Prince Street.

  9. Sad loss for Delmar...Mrs. Townsend is a wonderful administrator. We will miss her and wish her the absolute best of luck in everything she ever does!!! Lucky kids in Wic County to have her back!

  10. You can keep Mrs. Batts...She didn't do any for us. Mardela needs Mr. Green back!! He is fabulous and fits in well with us.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Sad loss for Mardela too! We should have known that nothing good will stay in Mardela.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Or no one good...we're the step-child. No offense, I'm one too.

  13. Batts is terrible. She also shows favoritism to people. Her nickname is "hugs for thugs" (Teachers call her this). You figure it out.

  14. mardela will be losing a good principle!

  15. I know Micah personally at Mardela and he is a big reason I have my oldest children go there.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Oh happy days for the parents and students at JMB . Hopefully the school can be the proud school it once was. I truley feel sorry for the parents and students of anywhere Mrs. Batts ends up.

  17. I wonder about the vice principals and deans at Bennett. Some of them need to go. Anyone heard about movement there?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Fowler is another Batts but at the elem. level. He has such an ego and things he so much better than the kids. He has no rapport with them. It is his way or no way. That school will continue to falter.

Nothing ever good stays in Mardela? Guess you haven't been to the elem. school lately! My kids go there and that is a great school!

  20. northwestern is a dump you should drive your kids to westside

    ReplyDelete
  21. 5:36 Northwestern also may not be keeping its principal - which goes to support the idea that the good ones always get taken from Mardela.

6:15 -- that's funny, but I'll keep my kids where they are and avoid the spoiled brats at Westside.

  22. Kirby Bryson is a strong contender for the Director of Elem. Ed (Margo Handy's position). He would be awesome there. Although, he will be HUGELY missed at Northwestern. He threw in his hat when he was told there was going to be MAJOR movement among the elementary administrators. I don't blame him. I'd want to choose if I could.

I am scared for Mardela. Contact the school office to ask a petition be started to keep Mr. Stauffer. He is great for the school and the community. He cares about the kids, parents, and staff.

There were a lot of tears when he said he was leaving!

    ReplyDelete
  23. good maybe now bennett will shape up. Lori sucked at her job. she didnt care about the kids. it was only a paycheck for her..YAY!!! sooo glad she is leaving...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Nobody in Mardela wants Lori Batts back. We already had her there and she was no good then. We don't need her back. She was of no help two years ago and would be of no help now. Mardela needs to let us continue with Micah or let Mr. Green come back. Leave Batts in Salisbury!

I am proud to say that I work at Northwestern. We have some of the best test scores in the county. Just look it up!

By the way, the principal is staying. He told the staff today. We are the lucky ones!

My kids to to Northwestern and used to go to Westside. I will take NW anyday over the yuppies at Westside. Let me see...classes sizes at NW are around 18 and last time I heard, Westside Intermediate was around 26-29. No wonder our scores are better...

Also, wonder why WIS has PBIS and NW does not? I will tell you why...NW doesn't have to bribe their kids to behave...they do it without treats...

You can have Westside...I will stay where I am...

  27. I hope they get rid of Nunzio at Delmar, he is a horrible principal. I heard he had a teacher removed from the building last week because she wouldn't cater to him. I'm sure his enormous ego couldn't handle being challenged. Glad to see some changes are being made so we can have good schools.

  28. Mardela is fortunate to see the return of Lori Batts. She was ASKED to go to Bennett because quite franky their students AND STAFF are out of control. To blame for all of this are the parents. Yes, I said it, the parents of JMB. They come to the school with a sense of entitlement which rubs off on the parents and staff. They fail to realize/admit that their school is in crisis. Mrs. Batts is not the issue, it is the idiots she was asked to try to enlighten. If you try to tell me that Mrs. Batts didn't accomplish anything during her tenure at JMB, it is not for her lack of trying. When you enter an atmosphere that is not only narrow but completely closed minded that you meet with a fight over every administrative decision of course you're not going to get anything done. Wake up parents, wake up faculty, get your thumbs out of your butts and actually do something to make a positive change in your school. Watching you from the inside...

  29. Is East Salisbury principal moving on and the principal from Beaverrun taking over there?

  30. Accountability starts at the top. Our WCBOE needs to be elected by us the tax paying citizens of the county. Maybe if they had to be accountable for a job well done or not done well and we could elect them according to their track records we could clean up this counties schools! I've been saying this for years. I'm sick and tired of things being swept under the rug and the many inconsistancies from school to school!

    ReplyDelete
  31. 6:15 Northwestern is a great school. My child goes there and loves it. Check out our test scores- many are higher than Westside, and this is from a school with almost 50% free and reduced lunch kids. Not bad for such a "dump". Oh and by the way, when they get out of Westside, send them to JMB instead of Mardela, because it would be way beneath you to send them there. Least I know my child will be safe from thugs.

  32. 8:15, It is simply not true that no one wants Mrs. Batts back at Mardela. Not true at all. Several comments have been made lately that are supposed to represent the entire community. If you have something to say, speak for yourself but please do not presume to represent us all.

  33. I'm glad to hear Bryson is staying at NW. The school has always had great staff and for the last 2 years has had a great admin team. I hope they keep Bryson there as long as he wants to stay.

Batts needs to go to Evening High School. She didn't fit at MMHS three years ago as principal, and was a disappointment at JMB not only with the majority of staff, students & parents but with BOE administration, too. MMHS has been a joy to go to for students, staff, parents & administrators for the last 2 years with Stauffer.

Belgie's leaving EHS, I hear - don't go back to a lead teacher, move Batts there.

BOE - stop saying that Mardela/NW is the best kept secret in Wicomico. Those are just words - show us with your actions and let us keep our great leaders. Use your contractual Principal Mentors to support a new principal at Parkside. Bryson is staying at NW - keep Stauffer at MMHS, as well!

And don't take Ms. DJ. either!

  34. Yeah, that's what we need, an elected BOE. Go ask Dorchester County how that's working for them.

  35. 10:40 - Board members have no legal ability to veto the transfer of principals between schools. This is in the superintendent's authority by law. Board members can offer input only, but have no vote or veto power.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Mrs. Batts measures the effectiveness of a teacher by "how much they care." She measures how much they care by how much they let students get away with. Discipline at Bennett had been non-existent at the administrative level until a near insurrection by the staff and BOE higher-ups discovered many, many office referrals piled up unprocessed and many others`that seemed to just disappear. I think Lori Batts could be a good leader but she's got to get her ego out of the way and work with people instead of thinking of them as the problem. She came in and alienated many people at JMB who could have helped her then told them they should transfer if they didn't like it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. The Superintendent can move Principlas around anywhere and anytime. From what I was told, the Board has no say in it at all. Approval or vote is not needed for this to happen. They can express their likes or dislikes but the Superintendent can do what he wants.

    ReplyDelete
  38. If Lori Batts is that bad why tranfer her. Why not get rid of her? Oh that's right - our GREAT Union at work. Once your in the system - always in the system

    ReplyDelete
  39. So if Bryson isn't Director of El Ed, who is?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Sounds like the numbers of no for Batts is higher then Yea for her. If she is so bad get rid of her. Let your voices be heard.
Now for those who are bashing the Westside Intermidiate. I have had 3 FANTASTIC kids go to Westside and all of them have never been a thug. One now has come in contact with many of your kids from Mardela and has been able to give them the gift of wearing those pretty silver bracelets. On the same note the same goes for some of those who attended Westside, North Salisbury, Prince Street, Fruitland, and other area schools.
Now Northwestern, is also a wonderful school and so is Mardela.
I have 1 neice and 3 nephews that go there and excell there as well.
If the kids are thugs or brats it didn't happen in the school it began at home. Give the teachers back some authority and watch the little sh*ts start respecting and behaving.

  41. I am glad to see someone at Mardela wants Batts, they must not have any kids there. They better get used to a rude principal with no discipline where cussing, disrespect and no school pride is accepted if not encouraged. Good luck with Batts our gain is your loss. I do agree she should go but, I am sure the board is bound by the union no matter how much damage is done to our children. - JMB parent

  42. Parkside is losing the best! Sorry to see him leave. Shame he can't retire from there. We will welcome Stauffer.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Micah Stauffer should be allowed to fulfill his vision of 'A Community of Excellence' at Mardela--give him at least another year to help staff and students transition! Four changes in principal in six years is too much.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Its time for the parents and staff to stand up for their school. No one else does. Lets go to the board a petition. What do you think they would say with tractors pulling into the BOE.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Has everyone seen the memo from Dr. Fredericksen on the wcboe website? If it was really skills or experience, why not move the most experienced principal to JMB 2 years ago instead of one with only 1 year?

If Mardela wants to keep their principal or keep out a different one, you must be heard soon. JMB's staff and parents were able to get a different principal - it will take a big voice to have the superintendent hear Mardela.

In a few weeks, it will be too late.
