TRAFFIC ALERT

Pavement & Rehabilitation Project on Route 40 Will Require Lane Closures

Nighttime Work Hours from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Bear -- As part of the on-going pavement and rehabilitation program, the Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces lane closures on Route 40/Pulaski Highway eastbound and westbound from Walther Road to Route 1 overpass beginning on Sunday, June 21. To decrease the impact on commuter traffic, Route 40 will remain open throughout the daytime hours, with lane closures during the evening. The lane closures will occur from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, pending weather. Fridays may be used as a make-up day. The contractor for these improvements is Daisy Construction Company. For this project, the contractor submitted a bid of $1,391,131.30, the lowest of six bids received.

The anticipated completion date is Monday, August 3, pending weather.

Variable message signs have been posted throughout the work corridor to inform motorists of the impending construction. Motorists are advised to slow down in work zones and use caution when traveling through this area.
