Location of Incident: Delaware Valley Physiatry, 701 Foulk Road, Wilmington, Delaware, New Castle County
Date and Time of Occurrence: Thursday, June 12, 2009, at approximately 12:30 p.m.
Suspect(s): Samuel J. Hackett, 49, of West 23rd Street in Wilmington, Delaware
Resume: Yesterday afternoon, Troopers were called to Delaware Valley Physiatry for the report of a computer theft.
This investigation revealed Mr. Samuel J. Hackett responded to the doctor’s office at about 12:30 p.m. and was seen by the attending physician. After his appointment was over, Mr. Samuel allegedly left the office, with a lap top belonging to the practice in hand.
When the staff learned of the missing computer, they called the State Police.
After determining who the last patient was to have access to the lap top- Samuel Hackett- officers conducted a routine computer check and learned he was wanted by the Court of Common Pleas. Troopers responded into the city and located Hackett in the area of 23rd and Market Street. He was taken into custody without incident. Investigators soon learned that the lap top in question was at Hackett’s home, in his basement. Troopers responded to his home and recovered the stolen computer.
The suspect was transported back to Troop 1 Penny Hill and formally charged on a single count of misdemeanor Theft. He was committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institute in lieu of $656.00 secured bond.
