That was the longest shampoo commercial I've ever seen. At least now I understand why her hair was whipping all over the place. But what connection was there, really, to the shampoo and the message of this commercial?
The message was true. There are people out there who aren't comfortable with anyone who is "different" so they treat them in mean ways.
Growing up in Wicomico County being one of the three shortest people in the county I know what it was life to be treated in mean spirited ways from people who were meeting me for the first time in school. There were always those few who no matter how hard I tried they never saw me as "normal".
I am who I am today thanks to everyone of those who said I'd never "grow up". I had to prove them wrong. There were many struggles along the way but that's what life is all about. There will always be someone out there who will look at my size and think that I can't succeed...or those who will always feel better calling me a midget in order for them to get a laugh from their friends. I've learned to laugh right back at them.
So to all of my friends who have helped fight my battles, thank you for always being there believing in me. It's friends like you who help make the world a friendly place.
