INCIDENT: Shoplifting

DATE & TIME: Tuesday, June 16th, 2009 at 1:26 p.m.

LOCATION: Sonic Restaurant 415 N. Fruitland Blvd. Fruitland, Md.

ACCUSED: ROSS WEAVER RINEHART, W/M, DOB: 06/15/1988 341 East Broadway, BelAir, Md.

CHARGES:
Theft-value less than $100.00
Possession of CDS - Marijuana

DISPOSITION: Remanded to custody of WCDC Central Booking

NARRATIVE: On the above date and time, a Fruitland police officer on routine patrol in the area of SONIC RESTAURANT , observed the accused grab a flag which had a Sonic logo on it from it’s place of display in front of the business and began running away with it. The officer quickly caught up with the accused as he was attempting to get on his bicycle. The manager of the restaurant was contacted, the property was returned and the accused was arrested for the theft. During the search incidental to the arrest, the accused was found to be in possession of CDS for which he was also charged.


INCIDENT: Shoplifting and Assault

DATE & TIME: Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 6:20 p.m.

LOCATION: Dollar General Store 206 N. Fruitland Blvd. Fruitland, Md.

ACCUSED: SHAFTON MAURICE CUFFEE, B/M, DOB: 03/14/1974 710 Baker Street, Salisbury, Md.

CHARGES:
Theft - value less than $100.00
Assault 2nd degree
Violation of probation

DISPOSITION: Remanded to custody of WCDC Central booking Unit

NARRATIVE: On the above date and time, Fruitland police officers were dispatched to the Dollar General store at the above location reference to a shoplifter that had fled the store. The accused was described wearing tan or green shorts, a white T-shirt and tan work boots. The victim related to the officers that she observed the accused in the greeting card section of the store concealing packs of T-shirts underneath his shirt. She then proceeded to the front door of the store in an attempt to prevent the accused from leaving. The victim confronted the accused about the concealed T-shirts as he was attempting to leave. The accused then pushed the victim through the doors and fled on foot.

A witness related to the officers that they had just observed the suspect in a yard on Clyde Avenue, Fruitland, Md. The officers located the accused hiding in a shed behind the house at the same address on Clyde Avenue where he had been seen by the witness. The accused was wearing the same clothing as described by the victim. The stolen items were covered and were in resalable condition. The accused was charged with the theft and 2nd degree assault. During the course of the investigation it was learned that there was an outstanding warrant on file for the accused for violation of probation. The warrant was located and served on the accused.


INCIDENT: Assault and MDOP

DATE & TIME: Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 10:45 p.m.

LOCATION: 217 Popular Street, Fruitland, Md.

ACCUSED: JAMES LEE MANN, B/M, DOB: 08/20/1979 212 Popular Street, Fruitland, Md. and 303-B Maryland Avenue, Salisbury, Md.

CHARGES:
Malicious Destruction of property
Assault 2nd degree
Disorderly Conduct

DISPOSITION: Remanded to custody of WCDC Central Booking Unit

NARRATIVE: On the above date and time, Fruitland police officers responded to the above location reference a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival the officers observed several persons in the parking lot whose attention was directed to a male and female who were arguing. The officers approached the two involved in the argument, separating them. The female subject related to the officers that the accused had grabbed her face with both of his hands and “Slung” her while they were arguing earlier in the residence. She related further that she took her children out of the residence into the parking lot and into her vehicle in order to get away from and take refuge from the accused. She advised that while she and her children were inside the vehicle, the accused hit on and kicked the driver’s door doing damage to same. The officers noted that the accused had an abrasion on the knuckle of his right hand and that he was limping. The vehicle had a large dent above the door handle and numerous smudges in the same area as well as a footprint that was visible on the window of the driver’s door. A witness at the scene confirmed the information provided by the victim. The accused was placed under arrest and charged with MDOP, 2nd degree Assault and Disorderly Conduct.
