This just in. Two lanes heading West on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge are closed, one lane open. There's a white sedan being put on a roll back, at least 7 State Police vehicles are on the Bridge and 5 Police Boats just below. While this is Breaking News, we have yet to learn from any Officials if someone actually jumped from the Bridge, (or attempted to) but this is the description from the scene just seconds ago. More to come........
Headlines should not end with a question mark. Wait until you get the facts until you report something. Doesn't that seem basic?
ReplyDeleteAWE, did we hurtided the MSM's feewings because we broke a story before they did.
ReplyDeleteThe day that Billy Joe McCallister jumped off the Tallahassie bridge.
ReplyDeleteI bet Tarzan would have survived
ReplyDeleteIts sad that people are being devistated to the piont of feeling as if they have failed their families. A man has to feel like a man or he has nothing inside. That is if your a man to begin with. Its called pride and self respect, that stuff runs deep if your a real human being.
ReplyDeleteSo what's wrong with wondering, 10:31? Obviously something has happened. If Joe wants to make a guess, it's his blog, after all. I'm sure he's welcome your suggestions as to what happened.
ReplyDeleteDid Jonathan hear the the Social Security is reviewing his status?
ReplyDeleteFirefighters searching for possible Bay Bridge jumper
ReplyDeleteThursday, June 4, 2009
Firefighters from two counties are searching the Chesapeake's waters for a person who may have jumped off the Bay Bridge.
The report of a person in the water came in about 10 a.m., said Lt. Stuart Peters, an Anne Arundel fire department spokesman.
Fireboats are searching an area just south of the bridge near the Eastern Shore, where a car was abandoned on the bridge's westbound span.
Officials from the Bay Bridge administration couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
If this guys not dead, hes sharp as a tack.
ReplyDeletePeople jump off the bridge all the time. They just don't report it in the media so that it won't become like the Golden Gate bridge. It is a sad situation but happens more often than people realize.
ReplyDeleteMan, some of you people just don't read very well. Look at the 12:30 comment again.
ReplyDeleteJust came back to Salisbury from Fairfax VA, 2 DNR boats patrolling under the bridge with flashing blue lights on.
ReplyDeleteI lived in Stevensville for a while and bridge jumpers were comon but not reported. I was driving over the bridge this morning and saw the vehicle, rollback truck and 6 police cars with police officers looking over the side of the bridge. There were also police boats in the water. (I was in a back up so was able to get a good look). My first thought was that someone jumped. but the vehicle was relatively close to the Eastern shore end of the bridge, not at the top as you might think. Let us know when you hear something.
ReplyDeleteSomeone jumped off the bridge on Rt 50 between Mardela and Vienna a couple of weeks ago. Once they hit the water and found they were still alive, craweled onto a bridge support and waited to be rescued.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this person decided to try a bigger bridge?

This is not really a news flash Joe. It's not uncommon to have a jumper a month. More around the Holiday Season. They don't report the jumps because they're afraid that it could give more people who are contemplating suicide a vehicle to pull it off. You might consider the same in the future. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteanonymous 5:40, who said anything about a news flash?
ReplyDeleteCome on MSM, get over it.
i wonder if they were blonde and a certain van halen song came on?
ReplyDeleteJoe said... "who said anything about a news flash?"
ReplyDeleteuhhh, you did! Read your post!
"While this is Breaking News"
I don't use the words news flash. It's just too gay for me. Real men say Breaking News.
ReplyDeleteAround 9:30 AM units from Anne Arundel ( PM 17, EMS 3, E 19-2, Boat 61) and Queen Anne ( Boat 1, PM100) dispatched for a jumper from the west bound span of the Bay Bridge. Operations were on AA County TG Echo. MSP Trooper 6 patched in on AA County. DNR 3XX units on 155.37. No MdTA units heard.
ReplyDeleteThe jumper survived and was seen in the water on the Sandy Point side of the center span and was rescued by AA County Fireboat 61 and taken to Sandy Point State Park where Trooper 6 had landed. AA Fireboat 61 reported rescue to DNR vessels on 155.37 which was the only direct contact that I heard between the AA/QA units and DNR.
Jumper was transported to AAMC by PM 17 as a priority 1 patient.
I hope the person gets the help they need.
ReplyDeleteMardela--You are better than this; such a sarcastic post is not what I expect from you. Whatever the reason, the people that jumped off both bridges need help and a lot of prayers on their behalf.
ReplyDeleteAnnon 5:40 PM , you need GOD in your life, I will send a prayer for you.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if anyone will see this who made the above posts, but I just happened upon this today and all should be ashamed. This was my brother, who suffered from Huntingtons disease, a degenerative brain disease. He did not survive the fall. Those who don't understand the circumstances around any situation should not comment or judge. How can people be so cold, I will never understand!
