  2. Bums will be a part of any urban scenary until the end of time. It could be the best of economic times and you'll still find people with mental or dependency issues on the streets.

  3. Let's not be so quick to label someone a " bum ", just because they are homeless and unemployed.
We may all be joining them soon.

  5. There are a lot of people who have fallen from grace due to alcohol and drugs. Can we help them? Do we want to? Do we care at all? From what I have seen its not the person that pays the price, its the children that they are failing.

  6. Unless you want to be an enabler, take them to Jimmy's Grille and get them a sandwich. Don't be surprised if he turns you down.

  10. When I was working in D.C. some
50 years ago , I met a man who had no legs. He would sell pencils on the corner of 13th and F street.
He pushed himself around on a dolly.
When I was about 35 years old I read an article about this man. The news was that he was a multi-millionaire , from his hard work.
Everyone can work if they try hard enough.

  11. That guy's been starving and homeless for at least 3 years. I know, I started feeding him fast food back then. As you can tell from his picture, and compare it to any of genuinely starving people, he might be hungry on occasion, but he's not starving.

  12. I saw that jerk there last winter. A pickup in front of me gave him a doller. How dumb is that? I promise you, I could give him work...would he accept. ... heck no... Personally, I don't understand why he is not put in jail for a month to dry out. Maybe they could get some work out of him by cleaning out the ditches that look so bad around the county. Worth a try!!!! Our roadways and off ramps look terrible...

  16. That's Billy Clem, just FYI, he takes all of the hard earned money that YOU FOLKS earned to give him and buys beer at royal farms with it. Then he sits under the pedestrian tunnel behind where that pic is and drinks it-in your face you bunch of suckers.

  17. This guy has been around forever... I used to work in a convenience store part time to make ends meet and he would come in multiple times a day and buy a 6 pack. One day he caught me in a bad mood and I snatched his little cardboard sign from him and kicked him out of the store. If I can work two jobs this guy can work at least one.

  22. When I saw him there I rolled the window down and told him to get a f--king job. They don't want to work for money they just want money for alcohol and drugs. Then the go to the hospital and claim they are sick. Once the hospital checks their blood alcohol level usually above 3.0 or 4.0. The hospital will give them a nice room in the ER warm in the winter and cool in the summer at our expense. Because if they let them go after finding out they are legally drunk. They could get hit by a car or something and PRMC would be liable for discharging them in a drunken state. How do you like that for spending your tax money or an increase in your medical expenses to pay for these drunk homeless bums.

  23. You know, everyone has problems. But to bash a person won't make things better. Do you all feel better now that you bashed this man? Yes, Billy has been homeless for years. Yes, people try to help him. If you don't want to get better with a problem or habit you won't reach out for the help.
I'm a volunteer for HALO-Hope And Life Outreach. Not everyone that is homeless is bum, and most of the homeless people DO want help. I use to think the way most of you do. Oh he's a bum-he can get a job. Well, folks that's not always easy. And with the way things are these days, who to say we won't be there one day too. Most of us don't have a savings most of us are just one or maybe if you are lucky two paychecks away from homelessness.I know this for a fact, I go out to the streets and help the homeless. Some we can help and some aren't looking for the help. We have helped MANY MANY people get back on there feet.
We all need to help each other. And if you don't want to help, that's okay - but don't throw stones, we are now all living in glass houses. Please call HALO and join in the effort to help others. :-) Be kind my friends!!

  24. Go-Getters has tried for YEARS to help this man and he flat out refuses. He just wants money to buy alcohol..that's it. He won't take real help or work. It isn't a sad economic story or some poor crazy guy story, his is simply a drunk who enjoys what he does and refuses to change.
