Puppy Mills-Prisioners Of Greed

Puppy Mills MASS PRODUCE SOLELY FOR PROFIT most ofen forsaking proper care ,nutrition & any form of socialization. Treated as commodities & kept in horriffic conditions, they're housed in make shift shelters, subjected to scorching sun,& bitter cold. Cages are stacked rows high, with waste from the upper animal dropping on those below. Overcrowded, filthy cages are commonly infested with parasites. Most receive no vet care & are fed inadequate food of poor quality. Females are bred EVERY HEAT CYCLE, usually starting at 6 mo. Puppies are taken from their sickley mothers at an early age & shipped to pet stores across the country.

APHIS, division of USDA, regulates license & regulations. The STATE OF MD has none!! There can be HUNDREDS of breeding facilities BUT HAVE NO REGULATORY BODY CHECKING TO ENSURE ANIMALS ARE CARED FOR. A purchaser who's bought a puppy who winds up being sick or diseased has little recourse . These operations are MOSTLY UNTOUCHABLE by the average person who have bought the sick animal & problems are compounded by Internet sales! THESE ANIMALS PROBLEMS ARE PASSED ON TO
UNSUSPECTING BUYERS. THE NEW OWNER OF THE PUPPY CANNOT REMEDY OR PREVENT DISEASES BRED INTO THE ANIMALS & many spend $1,000's trying to cure inherent problems.

Consumers have the power to end Puppy Mills. Petco, Petsmart, & Pet Supplies Plus NO LONGER SELL PUPPIES! GREEDY PUPPY MILL OPERATORS WILL STOP IRRESPONSIBLE BREEDING WHEN THERE IS NO DEMAND. PA is the State MOST NATORIOUS FOR HAVING THE LARGEST AMT.---& MOST OF THESE PUPPIES ARE SOLD BY THE AMISH WITH AN ESTIMATED PROFIT OF FOUR MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR!!!

Purchase from a reputable breeder, go to the Humane Society, or a known Pet Rescue Group!! Contact your Representatives to DEMAND THEY STAMP OUT PUPPY MILLS!

Please take the time to help-----As said, ---- "WE ARE THEIR VOICE" -----WITHOUT US--THEY HAVE NOTHING!!

  2. Do your research. Call the Salisbury Kennel Club and ask who they might recommend. GO TO THE HUMANE SOCIETY.

For example, my Wife has been breeding Yorkies for 20 years now. The bloodlines and knowledge of the history behind each dog we produce allows us to guarantee NO MAJOR HEALTH ISSUES will occur. Inbreeding is the biggest problem you'll find out there.

PAY A LITTLE MORE for a quality pet from a private breeder. Look at their entire facility. You'll know when you see a quality breeder.

There are Yorkies available for $500.00 all over the place. IMHO, you'll end up with three times the Vet Bills in most cases too. If a breeder brings the puppy indoors while the rest of their dogs are outside, insist on seeing their facility outside. Trust me, you'll usually run so fast it isn't funny. Out of sight, out of mind, remember that.

    Good luck.

  3. Sound advice Joe. It is a standard:
If a breeder sells a puppy to someone without meeting the purchaser, knowing where the pup will be raised, or getting referral from another purchaser, you can bet it's from a puppy mill.
Don't buy unless you see & KNOW where & who the puppy comes from.

  4. Bolstering of the puppy mill industry is aided when AKC issues registration papers to puppy mill animals. "This paper" increases the value of the puppies & THEREFORE MAKES THE PUPPY MILLS MORE PROFITABLE!! AKC can stop the puppy mills reproducing by refusing to register their animals!
Many people will not buy dogs without these papers & HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTING TO.
You can contact th AKC at 5580 Centerview Drive, Raleigh NC 27606 & demand they stop doing this !! It takes magnitudes of complaints. to get their attention

After reading this article I went on line to see what else I could find. 2 other sites that give valid & worthwile infor are:
Bill Smith, Mainline Animal Rescue and Wayne Pacelle, Dir. of HSUS
Do yourself a favor & read what's going on out there!!
Representatives need to be notified to put a stop to THIS!!!!

  6. These GREEDY puppy mill operators ,
who are mass producing these puppies also add to the overpopulation & KILLING of millions of unwanted pets. When you purchase from pet shops & other unreliable sources then YOU ARE ENCOURAGING THAT VICIOUS CYCLE OF MASS PRODUCTION, WHICH LEADS TO MORE ANIMALS BEING KILLED!

  7. My Dad use to say, " Get an ole mutt dog & he'll hardly ever get sick, but get one of those high
class pedigree dogs & you wind up spending a mountain of money on them." Guess he was more right then he knew !!!
