Pohanka Pays It Forward

Dear Joe,

Thank you for your continued coverage of Pohanka Pays it Forward. We are very proud to update you and the community of the progress of our efforts to support local non profit organizations and charities. Pohanka Pays it Forward only works because of our customers, who as you know get to pick what organization benefits from there new or pre owned vehicle purchase with Pohanka.

Since launching Pohanka Pays it Forward just 4 months weeks ago we have just exceeded $80,000 in donations to over 150 local organizations.

Pohanka will continue to Pay it Forward and encourages other local businesses to do the same. It is up to all of us to keep our economy growing and local non profit organizations need our help.

It is a very simple idea, if you are in the market for a new or Pre-owned vehicle than you owe it to yourself and to your community to give Pohanka a chance to earn your business.

Thank you to our customers who support us so we can support our community!

Respectfully,

Nina DiCarlo East

  1. This program was GREAT!!!!!
It's just really difficult to try to justify giving that much to charity when they are putting all of their Leesburg, VA employees out of work. They will be needing donations really soon. God bless them. Life is never fair - especially to all the people all the time.

  2. i dont think that leesburg is the same owner as salisbury. same name, some cooperation, but different owners. but that's probably irrelavent to you, eh 9:19? it sounds better the way you wrote it...

  4. Sorry, I just don't see where this is so great. Instead of getting that much off of a vehicle, they give it to charity where POHANKA gets to write it off as a tax deduction instead of the citizen who bought the car. I guarantee you that if the customer got to write it off as a tax deduction, Pohanka wouldn't be donating anything to charity. Hey Pohanka, when completing the paperwork, make the donation FROM the person who bought the car and not Pohanka. This will benefit the customer and community while not making your business look so self serving.

  5. Pohanka does not take it from the profit of the car, they take it from their advertising expense budget which would normally have
been spent trying to get people from other areas ie: internet, DC and Baltimore Newspapers etc. to buy cars in Salisbury.
Instead they keep the money locally helping charities in our community and let word of mouth do the advertising.
They DO send the check in the customer's name who made the donation and it is not written off by them as charity.

  8. So how is it decided what group gets the donation?
I've asked this question but have not had it answered.

  10. Great posts through all of this excellent promotion, Joe.

  11. i wonder if pohanka still pays it forward when it comes to their warranty. Or when it comes to (i think) a 60 year old man shooting out their windows because of the horrible service they received. I never had good luck with pohanka ever but at least they are doing some sort of good deed

  14. This is an interesting post since I bought a new Honda from Pohanka in May and was not asked how I would like to "pay it forward". This customer didn't get a chance to choose a local charity.
