Who sponsors this event, the Fountains? This blog is the only medium I see any mention of this event. Whom ever sponsors it, they aren't going to get any participation if they don't advertise, and advertise 3-4 weeks out from the actual day of the event. My mind's eye sees a guy walking into The Fountains expecting to meet the woman of his dreams, only to find the only other people at the event are some guy named Homer and the 1981 DelMarVa Farm Queen (and she's still wearing her sash). A shrill, squeeking noise coming from the spinning disco ball fills the room. Alas, there will be no love connection on this night.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your input. My name is Kim Heath and I work for The Fountains. I personally put the Singles Mingle Event. This is something that is needed in the area for Singles. A nice place, Hors d' oeuvres, Cash Bar, and a safe place to meet other people. Homer is welcome but the 1981 Delmarva Farm Qeen is too young.
ReplyDeleteThe Fountains is generous enough to donate the room, soda, water, ice tea, and the hors d' oeuvres.
Any money that is paid at the door is used to pay for the server that waits on us, the bartender, and the DJ. We do not make any money for advertising. Unless you are able to donate the money for the Times, Radio, or TV then please keep reading this wonderful blog that allows me to spread the word. I also try to take advantage of any other avenues such as E-mails, Flyers, phone calls or PSA's. I do what I can and at times we have had up to 40 guests. There have been a few connections and I am thrilled for them. This is also an opportunity to network. It may be possible that you meet Homer and his sister Thelma might be the woman of your dreams. It is about getting out there and opening up to meet other people.
If you have any questions or suggestions I am open to them. Please don't hesitate to call 410-749-5445
