Mayor Ireton, I Do Swear
What an exciting evening! The room wasn't just packed, there were at least 30 more people standing outside because there was no room for them to get in as they had reached capacity.
Mr. Ireton entered the room and the crowd went nuts. There was a long standing ovation, forcing Barrie Tilghman, Gary Comegys and other Council Members to rise to their feet and concur.
Mr. Ireton was sworn in and the Mayor went right to work taking care of business. Unfortunately they voted Louise Smith back in as Council President and Gary Comegys as Vice President. Each of them having to back it up with their own 2nd motion. Shanie stayed quiet.
Mayor Ireton carried himself exactly as I had expected and showed off his vibrant sense of humor along the way. This is truly going to be a pleasure but don't think there's not going to be major fireworks along the way.
Congratulations Mayor Ireton but most of all, thank you for serving.
Nice!
ReplyDeleteWhat disrespect Barrie showed Jim by leaving before he was sworn-in.
ReplyDeleteShe is trash!
Wow -- I don't miss the Barrie countdown post on this blog. Thank goodness she is "history" now.
ReplyDeletedoesnt look very packed
ReplyDeleteWhere was that fat green slob Jabba the Hut? Did he ride in his magic wheelchair or did he decide he didn't need it? Did he stand during to ovation or did gravity work against him on that?
ReplyDeleteInquiring minds want to know.

ReplyDeleteLeave with Barrie, buddy, before we put you in the center of attention.
thats great cause now we all need to voice our opinion to jim how that firehouse in frot of parkside high school station number 1 is lossing there engine tanker.. i know u citzens dont mean much in the county but that engine carrying 2000 gallons of water is our only chance of saving our house and our kids in side cause of water and now i think i was told there about to go a truck and engine both only carryin like 700 or 750 of water thats not uch and i know at least 200 people that are wanting to go up to talk to the mayor on this and joe if you dont mind use as county residents would like you to post hopeing for a change and then to keep the water supply that they got or at least give them aother tanker to replace that.. i dont wanna loose my house cause they run out of water and ive also eard 8 others stations voiced there opinion about keeping it thanks joe hope to see a post about this
ReplyDeleteMaybe I am missing something here. I will be saying I voted for Mayor Ireton,, But in the pictures, I do NOT see him being sworn in with a bible???? What is that all about? Did I not see it??? Is there a specific reason??? Someone please explain!
ReplyDeleteThanks
11:02,
ReplyDeleteThat is not part of the city ceremony (look at Debbie's picture, too). I don't think Jim would have had a problem with it, seeing as how he used to teach at a Catholic school!
Anyway, the real disgrace was Comegys' behavior! He puted, rolled his eyes, annd even started texting during the ceremony! Grow up, Bubba. I would have thrown you out of my class if I saw such low class behavior. So, how good do those of you who voted for Comegys feel now? Your guy has NO class.
10:54: You have the worst grammar and spelling I have ever seen. I had to read it twice to understand it.
ReplyDeleteFlavors must be doing pretty well with all of the business they get from the Jim Ireton camp! excellent. I love downtown and I love Flavors.
