Graffiti Makes A Return To Salisbury

There's a reason I chose to publish some of the Press Releases from the Delaware State Police referencing graffiti last week. I wanted everyone to see that other Police Departments are taking graffiti seriously.

While Downtown Salisbury has been plagued with this tagging over the past two or three years, the City had refused to work with the County in joint legislation to assure the removal of such graffiti within 24 hours. Hopefully the new Mayor will meet with States Attorney Davis Ruark and finally create an understanding jointly to rid of such tagging soon.

  1. Barrie just didn't get it, just like she didn't get it when gangs became evident in Salisbury. Graffiti is one of those markers that drives commercial areas and neighborhoods to the dumps, inviting crime and mischief. Taking it down within 24 hours, like a lot of municipalities have learned the hard way, discourages the taggers from coming back and makes the area look less inviting for criminals.
Yes, it takes money, time and commitment, but it's better than the alternative.

  3. No you don't have a good point, graffiti is a sign of gang activity and unless you've been under a rock, Salisbury has a crime problem. It's all connected. Leaving it up just encourages more and shows the community doesn't care, which is green light for those who tag.
