Four Years Ago

It was four years ago Jennifer and I were traveling to Kentucky, Ohio, New York and Connecticut soon after we purchased the Ranch in Delmar, reaching out to save foals from going to slaughter.

My how time flies! All in all we saved 35 foals, brought them home, nursed them back to health and ultimately adopted them out to the most wonderful people and families we were ever blessed to meet and come to know.

It was a 24 hour a day job where friends and people we had never met before came to help in any way they could. Today we still have a couple of horses left at the Ranch who have grown to be gentle and very happy. We're confident the same can be said about ALL of these Foals we had rescued.

While some have challenged our intent as to just what kind of people we are, perhaps those who continue to challenge us today should look in a mirror and ask themselves, what have you done lately? We have taken on many (lose/lose) situations over the years and quite frankly I think many should look at where we're at today.

In the overall scope of it all, I'd say we're winners in pretty much everything we have had our hands in. Then again, I'm bias.

  1. Joe, I'm very glad you were in a position, financially, to help those in need, our animal friends often get left out.

  2. I didn't realize you did this Joe. My then 11 year old daughter corresponded with Pres. Bush a couple of years ago, trying to raise awareness of this atrocity. They wrote back and forth a couple of times, and he seemed to be sympathetic. Our new President is pushing for a slaughter ban. Maybe he can get this right.
My daughter rescued "Ceasar" when she was 10. She saved all her money and used it for this purpose. I am very proud of her. This is a passion for her and she takes it very serious. Thanks for being a good guy Joe.
