To be fair to all concerned, Barrie's tenure has taken a toll on Salisbury and her personally also. She made the mistake to run again after her first term. She could have walked away then with some dignity and now there is nothing except disgust for her. What a tragic thing considering her reason for running for the office. She did it thinking she could make a real difference in Salisbury but her ego and personality caused unrest in the city and she should have gone away long ago. Barrie enjoy your retirement and stay out of city business. You outstayed your welcome.
YOU OUTSTAYED YOUR WELCOME....truer words have never been spoken, especially here in Salisbury. We just hope that it's possible to fix what she and her people screwed up. AND, when the new mayor is cleaning house, don't forget the Janna woman. She's toxic and inept.
You can be fair to all concerned all you want, but never, not once, was Barrie "fair" to all citizens of Salisbury. All she thought about was how she could screw them out of something else while she was the Queen of Barrieland. Disgusting, just plain disgusting is all she is. She doesn't deserve a going away party, she just needs to go away period.
It is with great joy that we can rebuild the city. We must move forward and think positive. In a few months we will forget about her , nobody likes to think about bad things. We must be concerned with the remaining issues of the 3 to 2 vote on the council. It will stay the same if Shanie wins , we know she cannot think for herself or make decisions that represent her peoples needs. Back to the mayor , she was voted into power and lacked the needed qualifications for this job. Have a good day.
Barrie was an absolute beast last night and Smith showed her usual inept leadership. If Campbell hadn't been there to ask questions and alert the public to waste and lies the meeting would have taken about 5 minutes after Barrie finished presenting the awards.
I guess Barrie has run out of time. With ALL the letters of appreciation she gives out, I guess the rest of the population of Salisbury won't get theirs. Sadly her last years in office has been spent giving out these worthless documents to just about anyone she can think of.
I have only lived in Salisbury for 5 years, I have read this blog, sat in on SAPOA meetings, open council meetings, and SU meetings...I get it that Mayor Tilghman is not well liked, can someone tell me in detail what she did that has made her the dis-liked person of the year?
if she actually cared so much, why does she almost always leave the meetings before they end? if it were me I would stay the entire time.
anon 10:37 grab enough food and water to last a few days. just google her name and read for yourself. i don't personally know her, but if half of what i read on the internet is true, i would say that her character is not up to par with mayors of years past. a leader should always be honest with the community. a leader should never show special interest and should certainly publicize when conflicts of interest arise.

If you have lived in Salisbury for 5 years and you can't answer that question yourself then you must be a pathetic moron and/or a FOB. Now go crawl back under your rock.
Hey 12:46 why all the hate? I simply asked a question because all I hear is what an awful person she is but no one talks about what she did. I don't get caught up in the politics of the City I thought I might find out what I could do to help wondering what everyone was talking about. I have only had the expierence of this Mayor, was curious about the former mayors, but now I know why I don't get involved, because of people like you who can't have a civil conversation without bashing someone else. And what the f@#$ is a FOB? Why can't you just simply answer someones question, your life must really suck!
With an attitude like that, no wonder 10:37 hasn't been interested in the issues of the Mayor. This "newbie" resident may have something of value to offer in the future when the rest of us are exhausted in spirit given the years of abuse we have endured at the hands of the exiting Mayor. Grow up, if you have nothing to contribute to the question stay out of it.
The Mayor is known for her intimidation of anyone who disagrees with her, whether an ordinary citizen or fellow elected official. She has presided over years of late audits and sloppy accounting of your tax dollars, including "misplacing" $10 million. She has endeavored to hide the problems at the WWTP from the public for years (including prior to the construction of the plant that doesn't work). She decided that it would be an offense worthy of termination for any city employee to talk to a council member. The list goes on, but essentially, errosion of the public trust. There are many committees and commissions to join and I think that the new Mayor will be open to public input. If Polk is victorious on Friday we could see a whole new day, where disagreement is in the spirit of developing better policy. That would be great. There is probably one naysayre posting over and over again here. Don't be discouraged. Get involved. The time seems to be right.
Thank you 5:20 for your insight. See 12:46 thats all you had to do to help explain things to Salisbury's new comers, or those that normally sit on the side lines and watch. Explaining your position is also teaching those who just don't know.
OH MY GOD!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is the ugliest freaking man I have ever seen!!
Did he forget to put his dentures in?
It looks like she just ate a persimmon or something.
ReplyDeleteShe kind of has the 'sour pus' look on her face.
she is a sour puss
ReplyDeleteWhoooooooooo, witchy woman.....
ReplyDeleteGlad she's soon to be gone as Mayor. Did anyone give her a going away party? Was Joe invited? Ha!
Her disappointment was palpable -- Joe was not at the meeting to bid her a fond adieu.
ReplyDeleteNo, that's the "oops I sharted" face!

ReplyDeleteCan we just move on! Let the woman retire some semblance of dignity, not that it is a reflection on her, but on us.
ReplyDeleteYOU OUTSTAYED YOUR WELCOME....truer words have never been spoken, especially here in Salisbury. We just hope that it's possible to fix what she and her people screwed up.

ReplyDeleteEeewww! I just threw up in my mouth. She is a SIGHT! Looks like Karma is catching up with her!
ReplyDeleteWith a face like that, who needs a butt. You sure she isn't walking backwards with her pants down? ewwww!

135 hours - 58 minutes and 6 seconds isn't soon enough.
ReplyDeleteThe picture above looks like she was sparing with Fernando before the council meeting. That or she took a little beating from Jack, Jack Daniels.
She looks like Doris Frump in that picture.
The Joe-parazzi always snaps the highest quality photos of the mayor...most flattering I'd say!

ReplyDeleteShe's just thinking to herself, I will no longer be Mayor, silly Gary lost and to top it ALL of, I won't get blogged anymore! What's a girl to do now?
