Crow-Bar Burglar Caught Red Handed

Suspect(s): Jamie Campbell, 38, of the 100 block of West 30th Street in Wilmington, Delaware

Resume: On Tuesday, March 31st, at approximately 11:14 p.m., Troop 2 patrol officers were dispatched to State Farm Insurance, located at 887 Pulaski Highway, in reference to a burglary alarm. As Troopers approached the scene they took notice to a suspicious vehicle in front of the business. As they got closer, they observed a subject, later identified as Jamie Campbell, holding a crow-bar which he was using to attempt pry open the front door to Roma Pizza, a business next to State Farm.

Campbell was taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 2. Detectives were called out and assumed the investigation. Through their efforts, Campbell was not only linked to the Roma and State Farm cases, but five other incidents as well.

March 27th, 2009- Claymont Produce, 2407 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, Delaware
March 29th, 2009- Pickles and Chips', 1707 Foulk Road, Wilmington, Delaware
March 29th, 2009- Haldas Meats, 2201 Silverside Road, Wilmington, Delaware
March 30th, 2009- Garden Valley Nursery, 1700 Rocky Run Parkway, Wilmington, Delaware

State Police Troop 2 Cases Cleared:

March 31st, 2009- Country Side Nursery, 1604 Pulaski Highway, New Castle, Delaware
March 31st, 2009- Roma Pizza, 883 Pulaski Highway, Bear, Delaware
March 31st, 2009- State Farm Insurance, 887 Pulaski Highway, Bear, Delaware

Jamie Campbell was formally charged with the following offenses: three counts of Attempted Burglary (felony), four counts of Burglary (felony), six counts of Possession of Burglars Tools (felony), four counts of Theft (misdemeanor), seven counts of Criminal Mischief (misdemeanor) and Attempted Theft (misdemeanor). Mr. Campbell was committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institute in lieu of $18,750.00 secured bond.
