  3. joe,

im really pleased that our huge investment is working out so well. the bad boys of metro will look really good walking to a fire carrying a ladder. if it wasnt so expensive it would be funny.

  5. Here's what's happening --

It's too heavy for the floor on the new fire house on the swamp, so thay are getting the tires filled with helium at Bubba's suggestion!

  10. why do they use the wheel chocks everytime it's parked? I assume that it has an automatic tranny so there's no need to for the "I forgot to set the parking break" precaution. If the ladder was going up then they would have the stablizers out. Just curious

  11. they use chocks cause sum dummy driving the rescue truck didnt aplly the air break and it rooled in to the vehicle that they were working on trying to free the person

Most larger trucks that have automatics do not have a park selection like cars. They only have neutral selection so the parking brake has to be set in order for it to stay.
Additionally trucks with arial booms that require outriggers most often "chock" the front wheels in case the rear wheels lose contact with the ground. Most emergency brakes only lock the back wheels.

  13. ok, thanks for that explanation!

  14. The driver/engineer should always chock the wheels of whatever piece of equipment he is operating once it is at the scene. It is added security, Do you people have nothing better to bicker about?! What do you all do for a living, let's bash that! Do you always have to flip the burger like that...

  15. Flippin' the burgers...rare, medium, or well-done?

I think Salisbury's constituents are now not just well-done, but burnt.

  19. They are probably messing with Joe. There is nothing wrong with the truck. They want to see Joe and everyone else get all worked up about it, and then, they will say What? What are you talking about? There is nothing wrong with the ladder! Etc Etc

How pathetic - for all of us. We are so suspicious of everything they do that we automatically think the worst. Is it possible that EVERYTHING they do is bad? Of course not, yet we are so disgusted with them that we look, and critique every thing they do. So fellas, you have a political problem. This blog demonstrates very well that the SFD has a problem with the public. The public lacks confidence. What good is a fire department, when no one trusts the firemen?

  20. It's having a list of warranty issues taken care of by the dealer. About a dozen little things were found since its arrival that will all be fixed. This is normal with any piece of fire apparatus.

  23. 7:06, The SFD was on campus several weeks ago "Training", you aren't suggesting they were there for any other reason, are you?

  24. Perverts think the college co-eds would give them a second look.

  25. 5:19, you got it. We've been lied to so many friggin times, we don't believe anything any more, even when it's nuthin.

    Records, which Pierce dealership?

  26. Give the Fire Dept. a break ! Can't you find some real stuff to complain about without picking on the SFD for every little thing imaginable ?

Who is picking on the SFD? Just who?

  29. It's not the firemen/women we don't trust, it's their lying, conniving leadership we don't trust. See, Gordy and Hoppes would rather climb a 100 foot pine to tell a lie than stand on the ground and tell the truth. They've been caught so many times you can't believe them.
