The shuttle is scheduled to launch tomorrow night about 9:20pm. Since it is going to the space station, its trajectory will essentially take it up the east coast of the US so you should be able to see it about 3 minutes after launch as it goes by (don’t you wish you could go from Florida to Maryland in 3 minutes? J)
A couple years ago, this same thing happened and we were able to watch the shuttle go over head from our yard in Crofton. And we were actually watching when the main engines shut off so it appeared that the shuttle disappear. It was very cool.
Check out this story on the launch viewing possibilities:

Cool I'll make sure we are watching , that should be pretty exciting to watch. Thanks for the heads up.
ReplyDeletethe article said it would be Wednesday, not tomorrow

It launches 0120 March 12 GMT, which is 920 pm eastern time on the 11 of march
I am so there! Love the space program.
ReplyDeleteAnother neat thing about living in Florida is watching the launches from our yard. Neighbors all gather together and have a tremendous view (if there is no cloud cover) Have seen some great ones
ReplyDeleteI for one, believe most Americans would willingly give up another $10-$20 per month to make the Space Program more successful. We should all tell our congressmen to increase the space exploration budget.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, it was just announced just before 3PM that the launch has been postponed until further notice.
ReplyDeletethe launch has been scrubbed due to a fuel leak.
ReplyDeleteA fuel leak, huh? How bad could that be? Oh, ye'h...I want to be strapped into that outdated sucker when they eventually light the candles again....not.
ReplyDeleteBTW-12:21. During the greatest economic struggle since the Great Depression, you suggest working families give NASA another $20 PER MONTH when many can't afford medications, healthy groceries or gasoline for their own vehicles?? Have you absolutely taken leave of your senses??? I can assure you I am telling my lawmakers to re-prioritize their shopping lists while working off my tax dime. And this time of stuff is NOWHERE near the top.
It's been rescheduled for 8:54PM on Thursday night...
