Update On Sentence To Two Consecutive Life Sentences

A Salisbury man is sentenced to 2 consecutive life sentences plus 20 years for the shooting death of another Salisbury man.

Today, a Wicomico County Circuit Court judge sentenced Duran Moss, 27, to Life in Prison for 1st Degree Murder plus 20 years for the Use of a Handgun in a Crime of Violence plus Life in Prison for Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Murder, all to be served consecutively.

On January 29, 2009, a jury found Moss guilty of the following charges:

1st Degree Pre-Meditated Murder, 2nd Degree Murder, 1st Degree Assault, Use of a Handgun in the Commission of a Violent Crime, Carrying a Handgun, Transporting a Handgun, Illegal Possession of a Regulated Firearm, and Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Murder.

Deputy State’s Attorney Sam Vincent says Moss shot and killed Kevil Tull in the stairway of his Runaway Bay Apartment building on May 12, 2008. Tull was 22 years old.

Vincent says, “The court imposed the sentence the State requested, which was the maximum sentence.”

  2. No, he didnt get what he deserved. His sorry arse should have been left to die when he was shot 9 times. What a waste of good medical care that could have been used on someone who actually deserves to retrieve oxygen. KJ- look down on your family, they love you!

  7. Hat Tip to the Honorable Judge who saw right through this piece of crap and put him away for good. This is what Wicomico needs. An example set to ANYONE who murders someone in our County! Another Hat Tip to the States Attorney's Office. Everyone should know how hard these people work to protect all of us as well. Have one on me tonight gang!

  9. I am sorry for both familes. They are the true losers. Kevin Tull was not an angel, but he did not deserve to die inthe horriffic manner that he did.

I do thank the judical system for working. Duran got a better defense than he deserved thanks to the taxpayers of MD. His lawyer,Arch McFadden, had a terrible case to try and defend his client. Proscuter Sam Vincent is a credit to our States Attorneys office.

I wish to thank the jurors also who had the wisdom and guts to hand down a conviction that suited the evidence presented.

  17. Excellent work.-
The Judges and Courts in Salisbury need to make a statement with their sentencing in the violent crimes around here. It will make them think of consequences more and hopefully pull us of the national rankings, but it has to be combined with other effots.

  20. Who was the judge ? I'd like to thank him for giving a sentence that actually means something. Let's hope this is the beginning of more tough sentencing for those who have no respect for human life. I hope those three losers who stabbed that young lady to death in that field in Delmar get the same lenght of time in prison for their senseless act of violence !

  22. What about the fact he should have never been on the streets in the first place? How about that? I thank the Judge who put him away for life this time, but what about all of the other times he got into trouble, only to be released. The whole Moss family is nothing but SH*T and leech off of society. I'd be more than happy to see this "family" of scum beneath the jail cells...

  23. Sincere thanks to the judge, jury, prosecutor, police, and anyone else who had a hand in placing Moss where he so rightfully deserves to be. I hope our legal system will keep sending this kind of message to people like this - if they can even be called people. No more wrist slapping! They're nothing more than a menace to society when they're on the outside and a worthless drain on the taxpayer when they're on the inside.

Too bad this guy won't be serving "hard time" as I think they used to call it - working on a chain gang or state farm, or even just breaking rocks in the worst summer heat possible. I've heard tell that such therapy has a way of slowing these vermin down.

  24. Thank you to the judge and jury who had the cahonnies to put this scum away for 140 years! Please let this be the new beginning of a no nonsense judicial system that will start putting these thugs away for a long, long time. A clear message needs to be sent...do the crime and you're going to to the time!
