There's Been A Change Of Date On Counting Ballots

Rather than waiting until Friday the 13th of March, some 50 ballots will be counted this coming Monday instead. The remaining ballots, military absentee & provisional will be counted on Friday the 13th. So we could have a pretty good idea what to expect this coming Monday. 5 Ballots were throw out on Thursday because the voters forgot to sign the Ballot!

  1. It's academic -- Jim Ireton is the next mayor of Salisbury!

    Bye, Bye, Bubba (in 2011)!

  2. That's interesting about five people forgetting to sign the ballot. The check-in judges are supposed to tell the voter to sign the ballot; after the voter has done this, the check-in judge initials the ballot. The voter then gives his voter authority "card" to the unit judge, who escorts him to the unit. That judge is supposed to make sure that the ballot is signed even though the first judge should have done so.

  3. Anon 9:18 These were absentee ballots, and the voter forgot to sign them before mailing. On-site regular or provisionals would have been properly signed.

  4. 918 the provisional ballots dont go to a machine to vote. They go to a side table and vote on a paper ballot. It is then put by the voter in a security type bag that cant be opened at the polling place. It is up to the voter to sign the ballot.

  5. Gary should be worried, he isnt ahead by much. The votes that are still waiting to be counted could knock him right out. No to get ride of Shanie.

Whatever the outcome on Monday, the City Council meeting that evening should be a hoot -- how about some pics of that event, please.

  10. 9:30 and 9:36, Joe's posting didn't indicate that the five discarded ones were provisional. Thanks for the clarification for other readers, though.

  11. I am rather "uneasy" that any ballots would be cast aside. It just makes me rather snippy. Just remember when that horrible Supreme Court arbitrarily and capriciously took away MY presidency {refer to the popular vote people}, they specifically said their bogus holding was NOT to be used as future precedent. However, I digress as Tipper has pointed out she has purchased tickets for us to attend the 'Death Metal' combo concert of some orchestra called the Notorious H.O. or something {Hall and Oates..what did you think I meant?} so that she can monitor their violent/misogynistic lyrics for obscene content, and then subsequently lecture nearby people about morality while they are merely trying to have a good time for a couple hours away from the kid on the weekend.
