this isn't so much mother nature being scary. it's more like disaster befalling due to man BUILDING something over nature that "happens" and thinking it's permanent!
That video looks like an analogy of the USA (The roadway) and Obamanomics (The water). Obamanomics won the battle, but the road was destroyed in the process. Sort of like what is going on in Washington D.C. right now.
Mother nature is "scary" when you do stupid things like try squeeze a several hundred foot floodplain into a 60" pipe. There should indeed have been a bridge there in the first place.
