Joe Albero Shuts Down The Daily Times

Yesterday, SBYNews broke the story that the $84 million dollar wastewater facility that had been completed six months ago was still not in compliance with MDE standards (pumping raw sewage into the Wicomico River). This “unique” (untried) method of wastewater treatment was, and is still not working after six months of operation, which means basically, in my taking of this information, that the City of Salisbury has been pumping raw sewage into the Wicomico River for the last six months?

WWTF Failure

Since the story broke on SBYNews.com, many people wanted to comment on the story on the Daily Times’ website, only to find that they were suddenly not registered members, and were not able to comment on any of the Daily times’ stories. I actually went to the degree of trying to sign up as a new user under a different email address, and was never sent the confirming email to set up the account. This is the epitome of why the Daily Times needs to drown with the Tilghman, Comegys, Shields, corporation and to destroy the Salisbury club.

This is truly not only a shame to the Great City of Salisbury, but an insult to the citizens of this great City. We are steadfast in our efforts to curb crime and overspending and to bring a greater class to Salisbury, but our Great Leader, with her own agenda, along with Gary Comegys, trashes the common good for her own agenda time and again.

As a result of this ridiculous sham that the mayor talked so proudly of just in the last 2 weeks, I have nothing to say but to vote against Mr. Comegys, who has been a solid proponent for this system, Vote for Jim Ireton for Mayor, and Ms. Campbell who has been a solid opponent to this system, and get Shanie out of office just because she can’t tell “Wastewater” from “Shinola” when it comes to crime statistics. Ms Polk is running against her, and needs to be put in to this position.

I want to furthermore use this opportunity to urge all the registered voters out there that there is a serious need that just for one day out of your lives that you need to come out and vote, The image is clear, and you know how it has to go, but without your vote, the incumbents stand a chance of winning. A few minutes of your time at the polls is nothing compared to the gross overspending of your tax dollars Voting this time is equivalent of reducing your taxes, and seeing an improved City of Salisbury.

  3. I agree that EVERYONE needs to vote, but that can't be the end of it. You have to keep informed and hold those in office accountable for their promises and actions. We all know Bubba loves nothing more than raising taxes and accusing the taxed of being unreasonable. Ireton has rightly complained about the tax rates ballooning under Tilghman, but even a cursory glance of his favored projects leads one to believe his only hope of accomplishing them is to do it on the backs of the tax payers. Add to that the economy and the likelihood of paying for the WWTP all over again and it's more important than ever that the citizens of Salisbury STAY engaged at this time. Don't just think Campbell or Cohen or Ireton or Albero or whoever is doing all the legwork so everything will be alright. Apathy is what got us to this point and a return to apathy even after a victory for "change" will lead us right back to this place.

  4. The Daily Times editors are a bunch of spineless cowards. I called their "top monkeys" to express my feelings about a smarmy, since departed on-line editor. I was banned too. They do it subtly by allowing you to keep your profile and you can appear to make a comment, but it actually doesn't show up on the thread because of their Pluck filters. If you are unsure of your own "banned" status, sign in, comment, then sign out and see if your comment actually posted. No big deal-I came here. I notice their stories now are lucky to get 5 comments. And if I see them in person, I get the opportunity to laugh right in their nerdy little faces.
