Jim Ireton’s large margin of victory in Salisbury’s mayoral primary and the very small lead Comegys has on Bob Caldwell at the moment is proof that the last minute shenanigans and scams perpetrated by Barrie & Bubba have backfired on them, big time. Let’s briefly review some of their schemes, and we probably don’t yet know about even half of them.
The dumbest was for both Barrie and her spouse to contribute to Comegys’ campaign the maximum amount allowed. Besides providing further evidence of Bubba’s allegiance to landlords, SAPOA and developers, this money made possible some of those red and white signs that we see at rental homes and various developments and business locations.
Then there’s the attempt to manipulate residents at The Cottages at River House into voting for Comegys, while also denying the other candidates any visitation right at the facility – apparently after their request to speak with the residents was referred to Barrie for guidance. That’s outrageous.
But much more outrageous is that weekly “public affairs” program (Monday Morning with the Mayor) that BPT does on WICO–1320AM. The current version is a campaign ad for Comegys, starring him, with Barrie as the moderator. It may and, if not, should be a violation of federal broadcasting rules by those involved -- look for more about that on this blog in the future.
The good news is that each of these things clearly cost Comegys votes yesterday and surely will hurt him again in the general election on April 7. But that would not be the case without the ability to put the facts before the public on this Blog. Salisbury’s mainstream media has not mentioned these matters, except in the routine article about campaign contributions, which listed the donations to Comegys. The difference is striking between the tenor and outcome of the mayoral elections as recently as 2002, when Barrie defeated Duke Shanahan by a thin margin by means of last minute character assassination.
There’s no need for Barrie to present this Blogger with a certificate of appreciation for serving the public interest at one of the few City Council meetings to be held before she becomes history. Salisbury residents already know that she and her comrades – Comegys, Dunn, Cathcart, Insley, Schuster, T. J. Baloney, etc. – HAVE BEEN BLOGGED!
Gary=Barrie & they deserve each other.
ReplyDeleteLet's make Salisbury a Bubba-free city.
Joe,
ReplyDeleteHappy as you must be, I would hesitate to take "credit" for Comegys' second place finish. Ireton just comes across as the better candidate, alleged shennanigans of the opposition notwithstanding. Keep in mind, too, that as "popular" as this site is, the majority of voters in Salisbury likely do not visit it, and rely intead on word of mouth, meet and greets, and the "MSM" for information on candidates and their views.
10:18, I'll give Joe his due, but I agree that Ireton should get the lion's share of his own due because he got out that and worked like a border collie at a sheep herding tournament. And when he spoke, people listened.
ReplyDeleteComegys made his own contribution, of course, by having the record and associations from hell.
Let's not take anything for granted. Barrie and Bubba will work overtime slinging the mud.
Yo Joe, I would LOVE to be there when the Mayor presents you with your "certificate of appreciation".
ReplyDeleteIf anyone deserves one its you. Thanks for keeping the public informed "Joe Albero style" on city politics. You have certainly raised awareness of how our city works, and for that a heartfelt thanks.
"Mr. Comegys, DO YOU STILL DENOUNCE THE BLOGS?"
ReplyDeleteJoe, that was priceless!
LMAO
Anon 9:46, that biotch has no conscience. I would say that she should go back to being a housewife but she'd f@ck that up too and give housewives a bad name!
ReplyDeleteAs for Chief Dykes, he was no puppet. As for Chief Webster, pack you bags, baby! I'll be there to hold the door for you!
Lets concentrate on getting Jim in the Mayors office for now. Mr Penna has respectfully and graciously asked his supporters to vote for Jim, Bob, lets hope does the same thing sometime today. This thing isnt over lets not get cocky just yet.
ReplyDeleteBob could still pull off the second place spot if the absentees help him out, so I wouldn't look for ann endorsement until after that time. OMG can you imagine how great that would be if he pulled it off? We'd finally have a decent, respectful election for mayor.
ReplyDeleteRiiiight I'm sure the feds are gonna swoop in on this one. NOT.
ReplyDeleteJoe you have a hugh following but isn't there a billboard somewhere that you can advertise so more people can go to this site. It is awesome!!!! I tell everyone I can but EVERYONE with a computer needs to be here. Thanks so much for telling us what the scum bags don't want us to know. You keep up the good work. Also congratulations to Jim. Have known him since he taught my children at St Frances and he was a great teacher as well as a great person. Thanks again

Exactly.... all of the corruption that she has been involved in. If it hasn't yet it's not going to happen.
Douglas F. Gansler, the Maryland Attorney General has had his ear filled numerous times, but he is not listening.
Who is running the state and the country now? Democrats and many are just as corrupt so you know they are not going to go after one of their own.
11:07, He needs 38 votes it isnt going to happen. With Bob and his voters getting behind Jim the days of Barrie,Bubba,Webbster and the rest are OVER. They know it. I hope that Bob drives the final nail in their coffin.(Its Hammer Time).
ReplyDeleteFrom WBOC's website:
ReplyDeleteCommenting on his apparent win, Comegys said, "I'm looking forward to the general election I think its a great opportunity for citizens to decide between rhetoric and action."
Bubba, you are such an idiot, can you even spell "rhetoric?" MORON!
WBOC's too busy reporting on Delaware to worry about Salisbury news; I swear between WMDT and WBOC you'd think there is no Salisbury and only Delaware to report news about!
ReplyDeleteIf I had a relative in assisted living or a nursing home I would check now to see if the powers that be have furnished them with a ballot ahead of time. When my husband was in Atria they sent out for absentee ballots and he could have voted for "Kilroy". The elderly are really at risk for easy picking.
